Historia
Jamie Fraser knows from his time-traveling wife Claire that, no matter how unlikely it seems, America will win the Revolutionary War. But that truth offers little solace, since Jamie realizes he might find himself pointing a weapon directly at his own son - a young officer in the British army. And Jamie isn't the only one with a tormented soul - for Claire may know who wins the conflict, but she certainly doesn't know whether or not her beloved Jamie survives.

A whole lotta nothin'
Revisado: 11-10-09
What a disappointment! Gabaldon could have done so much with this book given the tine period, but the story has no substance. Nothing of import happens except an incident at the end which is an obvious setup for the next book in the series. Don't waste your money. Check it out at your local library if you want to read it!

And worse still, the possibility of pointing a weapon at his own son - a young officer in the British army - haunts Jamie's every thought.

Awesome
Revisado: 07-28-09
I loved this book! This is my first Bryce Courtenay book and I am looking forward to listening to others. The story is multifaceted and the characters are outstanding. The narration is excellent. I was not bored by the first part as many other reviewers were.

I thoroughly enjoyed this epic story. I did not want to say goodbye to these characters. Thank goodness there is a sequel (Tandia). I am downloading it right now!

Historia
When CIA "fixer" Micah Dalton's friend and mentor turns up dead, he's put on a collision course with a killer who has a penchant for intricate knife-work and Native American mysticism, a sadist who is killing ex-CIA agents. The victims are hard-nosed field men whose only link to one another seems to be a global surveillance operation called Echelon. The murders appear to be acts of retribution. But for what?

One of my favorites
Revisado: 07-08-09
In fact, I listened to it twice.
I loved the characters and found the story exciting. Parts of the dialogue are hilarious. The narrator does an excellent job.
I am surprised by the polarization of the reviews. If you are unsure because of the negative reviews, it might be better to check it out at your local library as others obviously had a very different experience than I did.

Disappointed
Revisado: 06-06-09
Compared to Stone's first 2 novels, this one is a dud. The plot was weak and I found it very confusing. The most entertaining (in my opinion) support characters from the first 2 books are absent. Porter Naumann only appears once and has no impact on the story. Brancati does not appear at all. The reader, Jason Culp, does not measure up to Firdous Bamji or Erik Davies. If Stone writes a fourth Micah Dalton novel, I hope it is better than this one!

Historia
Over the course of a lifetime of service to his country, Colin Powell became a national hero, a beacon of wise leadership, and, according to polls, "the most trusted man in America". From his humble origins as the son of Jamaican immigrants, to the highest levels of government in four administrations, he helped guide the nation through some of its most heart-wrenching hours.

Good but too long
Revisado: 04-16-07
This is a good book but could have been GREAT if it were not caught up in minutiae. One never wants a good book to end but the unabridged version of this book was excruciating to get through. The first part is enjoyable and informative but once the narrative gets to the point of Bush's first election, it is mired in too much detail. On the positive side, it paints an illuminating picture of Powell's experiences in government service and how his personality and background shaped his vision and actions. For those wanting the gist of the story, I suggest the abridged version, although I have not listened to it and generally loathe abridgements.

Rescued from the Atlantic by a former police officer, Mick Stranahan, she decides not to report him but instead haunt and taunt him, with Mick's help, by playing dead.

Exceptionaly Hilarious
Revisado: 10-06-04
This book is the one to listen to if you are looking for a laugh. The story is imaginative, the situations are unique and the characters are a hoot. Truly a riotous, uproarious gem of a read!
