There are lots of experts out there who will tell you they have the magic recipe to raising perfect humans. Gwenna Laithland is not one of them. She’s one of us. Frustrated, overwhelmed, and exhausted. Her relatable representation of parenthood validates our experiences. In Momma Cusses, Gwenna uses her signature style of snark and sarcasm to explain her interpretation of responsive parenting vs. reactive parenting and outline the steps she takes to raise her kids. Whether you are a parent or someone who has had a parent, we all need to learn how to handle our emotional spirals responsively.

This. is. The. Book.
Revisado: 04-24-24
Since I had my kid, I’ve had a craving that I couldn’t communicate clearly enough to pin point the right resource.
I was looking for a clear, relevant, and logical dive into parenting that was applicable to my daily life and would benefit my kid.
This is the book. I have an analogy for you. Everyone knows by now the pictures and stuff stuff We find on the internet are edited, filtered, or are 1/500 pictures someone took to post. The knowledge, topics, elaborations, summaries, and relatable life stories in this book are like a view on parenting without a filter.
….and may I have another?
Thank you.

Amid escalating nuclear tensions, Kim Jong-un and North Korea's other leaders have kept a tight grasp on their one-party state, quashing any nascent opposition movements and sending all suspected dissidents to its brutal concentration camps for "re-education". Kang Chol-Hwan is the first survivor of one of these camps to escape and tell his story to the world, documenting the extreme conditions in these gulags and providing a personal insight into life in North Korea.

I can only imagine what was in the unedited version.
I know this was a piece of literature that was actually banned in some countries. This story was given to my mom as a foreign exchange student when she visited Australia. If it hadn’t have been recommended to me, I would’ve remained ignorant. It is a reminder of the horrors that exist in our world and a cry to change.

Voice actor fit the main character which was the leading point of view.
Revisado: 07-06-23
I didn’t see anything wrong with the voice actor, I know I saw a lot of comments about this. As long as you remember that this is…the point of view of the kind of…. What’s the word I’m looking for….numb, ambitious, and self motivated individual which the main character is. Even the brief moments he is helping someone else or thinking of someone else, every bit of it is for himself. That being said, coming from reading the hunger games first, of course it was slower and more dismal overall but that’s the nature of the moment the book was written to reveal. It fits. I enjoyed it. Was it my favorite? No. Was it bad? No. But it was an overall successful choice. Note to the author: Thank you for your writing and for the entertainment.

A lot of ‘I don’t know’s
Revisado: 07-06-23
Performance was good. Narrator used a couple of different character voices and stayed consistent.
Now…I went into this book wanting to like it. I saw the movie years ago and forgot the ending… I was primed and ready for a new book to fan girl over. Even though the concept and the world building had great bones and there was plenty to get excited for, it fell flat for me. Flat on a whole lot of ‘I don’t know’s. From the reader’s perspective I frequently want to say ‘okay I get it. Memory wipe. Let’s move on’ more telling than showing. I realized after I finished the book that I desperately wanted to be in the world and that’s where this book seriously lacked. Also, even though the dialogue was primarily made up of kids yelling at eachother about each other’s ignorance, you’d think after two years of having to do have these conversations over and over again every month would’ve made them a little less abrasive to the situation and a little more accepting of their situation which would’ve made the dialogue richer especially if they are all geniuses like the end wants to lean toward. ‘You think I didn’t think of that greenie?!’ ….. feels like half of the stupid book was some variation of this line. Had potential and fell flat for me.

Revisado: 06-05-23
For crying out loud, I’m 4 and a half chapters in and the author still hasn’t started going over what this ‘secure circle parenting style’ IS. It’s been 4 chapters of ‘it’s okay’ ‘you’re okay’ and sprinkles of ‘here’s some studies that show a secure circle is more beneficial than without it’. I get it. But for crying out loud… let’s get to the meat and potatoes of what I hoped to learn when taking on this book which is how to help facilitate the circle.

The best story tellers of today.
Revisado: 05-22-23
After being a whole hearted follower of the Enderverse, I finally dipped my toe into more of Orson Scott Card’s work and I was happily surprised.
As the reader, I didn’t want to be pigeon holed. I wanted something that was creative, thoughtful, and didn’t take a cheap dive into the smut category. Homebody was a wonderful stand alone (that I know of…I think it’s god by itself) story that dared to be just that. And I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it so much, that I stayed up listening to it until 2AM to hear the ending when I’d only bought it to listen to while working.
Narrated by the wonderful Stefan Rudnicki (one of the many and all fabulous cast from Orson Scott Cards previous works) is a wonderful break from the ordinary.
Thank you for releasing this. I’m very excited for more of your stand alone stories and I think I’m ready to dive into another.

Tom Felton’s adolescence was anything but ordinary. His early rise to fame in beloved films like The Borrowers catapulted him into the limelight, but nothing could prepare him for what was to come after he landed the iconic role of the Draco Malfoy, the bleached blonde villain of the Harry Potter movies. For the next ten years, he was at the center of a huge pop culture phenomenon and yet, in between filming, he would go back to being a normal teenager trying to fit into a normal school. Speaking with great candor and his signature humor, Tom shares his experience.

“Let me tell you a story” is the flavor and I’m so glad it was. In the same way I’d sit and listen to my dad tell stories of his youth, it is a collection of honest recollections that a part of us craves more than any other entertainment. Thank you for making this. Thank you for narrating this. Thank you for feeling this.

A Taste of the Ender verse

This is a fantastic blip addition to the life of the Ender verse. Short, eye opening character building, thoughtful, and still incredibly potent. I would not be disappointed to see more of these mini character explorations for this collection of work.
