Unfortunately a slow and boring book :(

Jonathan Kellerman has been a favorite writer for many years.

If this had been the first book I read by him I would probably not have read another.

The book was boring. If we remove all the text about food, Clothes, traffic etc there wouldn't be much left! We don't need to know everything about what someone is wearing or what they look like!

These cases were dragging out and I doubt that they would have been able to continue working. I find it a bit strange that they were able to find someone just looking for people who had been shot in the heart. I think most people are shot in the torsos!

This was my first book by Emma Rowley and I'm really glad I found the book! The book is free on Audible at the moment. You can also borrow this book and her other book on Hoopla :)

Kate is the only one who believes that she will ever see her daughter Sophie again. Her husband moved out, her dad and sister are really worried about Kate's mental health.

Kate works for a charity where missing teens can leave messages for their families. When Kate gets a call from Sophie on a really bad line, none believe that the call was real...

This was a really good book! I had to stop listening so I could go to sleep.

It was my ex who got me interested in these books. Since then I've read all of them. The wait at the library was far too long so I used one credit on Audible.

I started listening to the book several times but didn't get anywhere. I borrowed the Kindle sample so I at least got the names of the characters and who they supposedly are. I think this book would have been easier to read than to listen to.

You can't compare Reacher from the earlier books to this book. It's Reacher but the personality is missing. He's still drinking a lot of coffee but that is the only thing I recognize.

After finishing the book I can't say I know anything about the other characters in this book either. They feel flat.

I used to be excited to borrow a new Reacher book. I give the book 3.5*

Patricia Cornwell became a favorite writer a very long time ago when I read her first book. I've read most of the books in the series three times :)

I started over with the first book a few months ago. I like reading the books one after an other. When I read one book a year it's easy to forget things.

I have read all the other books written by Patricia Cornwell as well. I didn't like them. I'm so glad we got to meet Kay again! A lot happened between 2016 and 2021!

It's strange to read about Covid... Now a few years later it seems like a bad dream or a scary story about the future!

Kay's back in Virginia again. The ME's office she helped start up has been destroyed by a medical examiner who didn't care about the people who had been killed. It was more important to sweep murder cases under the rug to not loose tourists coming to town! Elvin Reddy wasn't involved in autopsies and nothing seems to work.

I liked the book but I do agree with others saying that we want to get a chance to solve the case. It's better when the bad guy is someone who doesn't just show up in the last chapter!

I bought the Audible book when it was published but I knew there were quite a few new characters so I borrowed the Kindle book as well. CJ Critt is a lot better narrator!

This is a series you should read from the beginning! A lot has happened in the 24 previous books!

If you have an American library card you can borrow books from Hoppla. There is no wait time there.

Brian Freeman is one of my favorite writers. I especially like his books about Jonathan Stride.

This book is free on Audible and if you have Kindle unlimited. I borrowed both the audio book and Kindle.

Lisa finds a boy outside her house. He's injured and can't remember who he is or what happened to him. Lisa tells him that she is worried about his head injury and they should go to the hospital to get his head checked. The boy panics and doesn't want to go. He says people die in hospitals.

Before she saw the boy outside, two men dressed as Sheriff's deputies were outside her house. She'd never seen them before and is worried that they are not really deputies. They were having their guns out. They talked about breaking into her house! Why would they say that if they are really Sheriff's deputies!?

The boy starts to remember and it gets scary! He'd seen four men torture and kill a man! Two were dressed as police officers!
When they saw him, the old man in charge, tells the others to kill the boy!

I liked this book and I'm going to listen to the other books by Brian Freeman that are free on Audible.

Joy Ellis is one of my favorite writers. I do like her books about Jackman and Evans & Nikki and Joseph.

This was not really my thing. It says that she wrote this book over 20 years ago.

The information about migraine in the book is wrong! I find it annoying when writers write about medical issues and don't get it right!

In this book it says that the woman is getting strong pain killers. This is an other part about migraine: I’m afraid it’s me that is the problem. The return of migraines, after a short break of some forty years!’ ‘Are you taking anything for it? You appear to be in considerable discomfort.’ ‘Oh yes,’ she said, trying to dismiss his concerns. ‘But you know what migraines are like, nothing works for long, does it? It will pass.’

Even 1990 there was a great medicine for migraine called Imitrex (Immigran in Sweden). I had really bad migraine for many years with attacks 3-4 days a week. After taking Imitrex injection the pain was gone after ca 20 minutes.

I was working in the ER when a cardiologist told me about a new blood pressure medicine that would help. After I started taking that medicine I had no more than 3-4 migraine attacks a year!

When we had patients with migraine in the ER we gave them Imitrex, definitely no strong painkillers!

I can see traces of the future great books reading this book but this book has a lot of descriptions that makes it unnecessary long.

I've read a few other books by Ragnar Jònasson and I like them.

This book is free on Audible at the moment. It would have been a lot easier to read the book! Will Damron narrated this book. I don't know Icelandic but I think that Will Damron does or at least knows how to pronounce the names in this book.

I hate listening to books written by Swedish writers. The narrators always butcher the Swedish names! Many add letters that are not in the word they are saying!

I do recommend reading this book. It was a bit difficult to follow when we heard from different people in the story!

I look forward to reading the following book!

OK book but not my favorite book about Anna

This was a book I read a few years ago before I started from the beginning with the series.

Anna had gone through a lot in the previous book! She isn't sure if she can go back to work as a park ranger.

The trip on the river is supposed to be a vacation for Anna and her husband Paul. If you have read the previous books about Anna you know things hardly ever go right!

She gets the stupid idea to rescue a cow!

She does have PTSD after what happened in the previous book. Knowing that I still think Anna is all over the place! She does a lot of strange things. None on this trip is acting normally! Crazy things happen and none seems to react!

This was not my favorite book about Anna. 3.5*

I've read all the previous books in the series. I like reading about the different national parks where Anna Pigeon is working.

I listened to this book and it made it a bit confusing. I like reading Kindle books when I can search for a person etc.

As usual Anna does some crazy things in this story! Things you would think she wouldn't do with her experience... There are a lot of twists and turns in this book!

One thing was annoying! One person in the story breaks his/her femur but Anna says that the person broke the ankle from stepping in a hole! That would not make you break your femur!

The femur is the bone in your thigh not in the ankle!

The book was unnecessary long! Anna's trips through the woods took forever!

The cold and snow in this book reminds me of growing up in Sweden. Where I lived we only had sunlight for four hours a day during the darkest time of the year! The sun rose at 10 am and set at 2 pm!

I've read all the books in the series so far. I'm liking them less and less. The last two I've listened to are only free on Audible for a couple of more days.

Anna didn't have any common sense in the previous book. It's kind of funny that she never seems prepared when she gets stuck in the parks at night. I even have a good flashlight in my purse...

The first part of the book was ok but we didn't need all the violence in the second part!

I also miss the descriptions of the national park in this book. I usually get a pretty good picture of the park after reading one of these books. Anna didn't interact with her co-workers either. We only met two of them.
