the story is short and anti-climatic
Revisado: 12-31-20
I'm a fan of the Reacher novels, this one felt like it was written while waiting for a layover somewhere. Climax is weak, the mystery is somewhat uninteresting. it doesn't add anything to Reacher's overall story, I recommend skipping it.

Historia
Teenage girls are taking courses of testosterone and disfiguring their bodies. Parents are undermined; experts are over-relied upon; dissenters in science and medicine are intimidated; free speech truckles under renewed attack; socialized medicine bears hidden consequences; and an intersectional era has arisen in which the desire to escape a dominant identity encourages individuals to take cover in victim groups. Every person who has ever had a skeptical thought about the sudden rush toward a non-binary future but been afraid to express it - this book is for you.

The reader mispronounces so many words it is quite distracting. The information presented is more like a summary of a topic than study material.

Historia
In this eloquent and persuasive book, Neil Postman examines the deep and broad effects of television culture on the manner in which we conduct our public affairs, and how "entertainment values" have corrupted the very way we think. As politics, news, religion, education, and commerce are given less and less expression in the form of the printed word, they are rapidly being reshaped to suit the requirements of television.

Interesting material - bad audio
Revisado: 03-03-18
There are some interesting points to be made and enough original content to make this a worth while "read". The big CON of this title is the recording. It has been artificially sped up to the point where no human would speak this way and no sane human could understand it at length. I had to slow the audio now to 75% before it began to sound like a normal rate of speech.

More biographical than informative
Revisado: 01-18-18
Acuff gives a detailed account of his life of happenstance and how he feels about each season in it, then tries to sum up those seasons with already well-known lessons. Acuff seems like a nice enough person, but the book could have only made it to publishing with Dave Ramsey's endorsement. Nothing here will give you any insight or inspiration to follow your dream or identify it. However, you will learn every step Acuff took to accidentally come to work for Dave Ramsey and a little about Ramsey's financial teachings. On a separate not: If you haven't been made familiar with Dave Ramsey's material, skip this book and purchase Ramey's Financial Peace University.

Historia
Born to a poor couple who were tenant farmers on a plantation in Mississippi, Anne Moody lived through some of the most dangerous days of the pre-civil rights era in the South. The week before she began high school came the news of Emmet Till's lynching. Before then, she had "known the fear of hunger, hell, and the Devil. But now there was…the fear of being killed just because I was black." In that moment was born the passion for freedom and justice that would change her life.
