Historia
The Altrian town of Roselake suffers from a vanishing villager problem that has gone largely ignored. But now that the guards are going missing and all forms of communication from within the game are blocked, it's time for the Governess to intervene...Caught illegally crossing the border, Ryland and Co have been "politely ordered" to investigate. However, with this ragtag group of misfits involved, nothing can go smoothly.

Trolls and homophobes
Revisado: 08-07-19
To start on a positive note, I think that the narrator does a good job with characters, providing a different personality to each of them which is of course all I can ask for in a narrator.
That said, two of the main characters have driven me away from this author. First, carrying over from the first book, is an oversexed online troll. The character gets the others in trouble repeatedly and even after admitting her mistake, she doesn't grow and just keeps on being her trolly self.
The second character encounters a pair of gay characters and proceeds to repeatedly drop f**gy and *fa**ot for about 5 minutes. While the other characters disagree with his actions, they really don't do anything to change his mind. Assuming that his character is anything like the other one, there will be no growth and he will continue to behave in the same manner.
If I wanted to encounter people that behave like this, I could easily go to 4Chan. As a gamer and a gay man, I can not support an author who finds these characters to be good people.

Ummmm...just respawn?
Revisado: 06-18-19
***PLOT SPOILERS BELOW HERE***
I made it a couple hours into the book before I just had to return it for one massive, drive 50 trucks side-by-side wide plot hole. The plot involves the MC dying and having his consciousness uploaded into the Capes Online game world. MC begins to learn how the world works when a hacker takes over the game. The only two ways to beat the villain are to either kill the villain which is supposed to be nearly impossible or kill our MC. The players can not log out but the main villain specifically says that he could NOT cause players to die IRL if they died in the game. Additionally, the MC has died repeatedly and just re-spawns. At no point that I remember that there a rule that says there are different consequences if the MC is killed by another player. So, the MC is now running around, avoiding being killed by other players because....reasons? I don't mind some plot holes, they're going to happen and can be used to push the plot forward. For me, that's not a plot hole, it's ret-conning a major component of the entire world to provide motivation for the MC.
All of that said, I think the narrator did a fine job, my first time hearing him narrate. The sidekick was somewhat annoying but hey, sidekick. :) If you can ignore the issue that I brought up above, I'm sure that you can enjoy the book but I just couldn't.

Angry old man never changes
Revisado: 08-28-18
I went through a book and a half before I had to stop listening. The narration is fine, Jeff Hayes is very talented. However, narration alone can not carry an audiobook. In the first book, like other have said, is full of overused and over the top 20s slang. While it makes sense, it painful to listen to. On top of that, the main character is just angry and violent all the time, regardless of the situation. That would be ok in the first book but moving into book 2, he just keeps that up. Ranting and raving about everything and acting like an old man about new technology. A man, hooked into a virtual world, is angry at new tech. Without any character growth to speak of, it's impossible for me to like the main character, which is kind of important in a story. This is really unfortunate because the world that the author built is really great. However, with the filter of constant negativity that we have to experience it through, I just couldn't enjoy the ride.

Historia
As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey.

(SPOILER REVIEW) Really fun story!
Revisado: 06-19-16
As a fan of the Alien/Predator universe, I really enjoyed this story. It was a fun little suspense romp in between Alien and Aliens that was very well written. The fully voice acted story was a nice change from the traditional narrated story and got me more engaged with what was happening. Also, the voice actors were all very good choices, especially the actor that played Ripley, she sounded just like her! I also appreciate that the author stayed true to Ripley's character in that she was equal parts terrified and strong willed. Overall, a very good read/listen.

Somebody got their angry politics in my comedy!
Revisado: 06-12-16
This one is tricky. I'll start by saying that I've read other work from this author and I've loved it. On top of that, Adam Baldwin was great. With this 2 hour book, I was non-stop laughing for 1 hour and 58 minutes. The pop culture references were great, the nods to himself were very funny, and I especially enjoyed the "damn LARPers" comment since I am one of them.
The problem was the last 2 minutes. I feel like the author spent all this time telling us a fun story then took 2 minute at the end to hit us with his political views with the subtly of <insert politician here> is Hitler. I'm all for political disagreement, I'm all for humor against the person that I side with. My issue was the caustic delivery in contrast with the previous humor.
All of that said, I enjoyed most of the story, I thought the narration was great, and I'll continue to read more of Larry's work. The end though honestly tainted the experience for me. Of course, your milage may vary :)
