Great End to Series

Cute little mystery/romance. Short and leads way for follow on books on series I am sure. But like most books of this genre, one has to wonder how many murders can happen in Hillbilly Hollow. Good distraction between serious reads.

Predictable

The story had few twists and had a predictable but exceedingly long end. A surprise hear and there made it a decent read. Would have benefitted greatly from a male voice doing the mail voices but otherwise it was an easy listen.

This was a good story of Morgan, sister of Arthur. It starts when she is young in her nursery thru to age 26 or 27. It was well narrated and the story was well done. Thank you audibles!

OK But Expected More

Because there was so much talk about this book in my bookclub, I guess I had an anticipation of the read. The storyline is sad but familiar, the narration does not help the story - with the way emphasis was placed. I wonder if I read the book if my mind would have placed it differently. Glad I read it - just not sure I would recommend it.

What’s the fuss all about

I do not understand what all the fuss was about. This book is highly recommended and there are those that rave over it but I don’t get it. Chapter 1 was probably by far the best chapter. Then it is boy meets girl - boy is married of course - boy gets girl after some drama - girl learns truth and must make decision in a nutshell without spoiler alerts. The performance was good for a mediocre story line.

The Narrators Make the story

The book was, in my opinion, drawn out a bit much. Honestly, the narrators made the story - having male/female voices helped tremendously in getting thru the story. I am glad Clare had an outside interest because it seems Henry only had one thing on this mind with the exception of when he was with minor Clare or waking up naked in the Newberry Library. I know the author was trying to show how deep Henry and Clare loved each other - and a love that lasted the ages. Alba does her own traveling, though we don’t hear a lot about it, but she would be also leaving poor Claire alone. It seems to make Clare a pathetic character. And Gomez’ taking advantage of her state of mind and her “trance-like” state where she is dreaming of Henry was superfluous. Another view into poor Clare. You could look at Clare as a woman who loved so deeply she could never get over her love for Henry and it is a sweet view. I would rather think of her that way. Sweet Clare and time traveling Alba living their lives knowing that though Henry is gone, he isn’t gone forever!

Great Escape

I picked this book due to some other heavy reading and I wasn’t disappointed. It was light and airy and completely entertaining. Would get second book for next bit of light reading.
