Historia
Teacher, mother, wife, and all-around good citizen Ellen is juggling nonstop commitments, from raising a teen and two toddlers to job-hunting to finally renovating her dream home, the Meadowhouse. Amidst the chaos, an ominous note arrives in the mail, declaring: People have to learn there are consequences, Ellen. And I’m going to teach you that lesson. Right under your nose. Why would someone send her this? Ellen has no clue. She’s no angel—a white lie here, an occasional sharp tongue there—but nothing to incur the wrath of an anonymous enemy. She’d never intentionally hurt anyone.

The other nosy neighbor
Revisado: 08-08-24
Loved the opening of the book, drew me in immediately. Both story and narration provided an artful way of showing each characters perspective. The twist was a bit 6/10 for me… but overall the book triggered the nosy neighbor in me and I was so excited for each chapter.

Dark but still so good
Revisado: 07-31-22
Didn’t think the story could get any more extraordinary but it did in an intriguing and complex way. Tons of action, artful depiction of futuristic war & the mind set behind it. Story highlights the beauty of human strength and the deep, unbreakable bonds that we establish with each other - I finished this in 2 weeks, could not stop.

So engaging
Revisado: 07-05-22
Can’t believe this series was free on audible. It is so much better than some of the other ones I have used credits for. It’s not overly complex which makes it easy to listen to, but still has wonderful origin stories and plot twists that keep you engaged. The performance really brings the quirks of each character to life. Was such a fun ride.

Struggled with the narration
Revisado: 09-27-21
Big fan of Brent Weeks but the narration was ruining it for me. The narrator seems under prepared, reading as if he had no idea what came next so the tone and emphasis were all out of place. Story line wasn't as engaging as his other series so I wasn't motivated to stick with it. Returning this for something else.

Enjoyed it
Revisado: 07-16-21
Haven't had much luck in finding my next great read while waiting on the next book from Brandon Sanderson. Was very happy to come across this series where there is so much depth to the characters and their stories. The action is well written, extremely believable, takes your breath away. Kip's journey is surprisingly inspiring, I stay up late to finish his storyline and root loudly for him at every turn. Can't wait to pick up the next book.

Historia
For almost a hundred years, Hadrian Marlowe has served the empire in its war against the Cielcin, a vicious alien race bent on humanity's destruction. Rumors of a new king among the Cielcin have reached the imperial throne. This one is not like the others. It does not raid borderworld territories, preferring precise, strategic attacks on the humans' empire.

Expansive world and story line
Revisado: 05-25-21
I have never encountered a series that truly takes you to the outer reaches of space in such a believable and diverse way. The evolution of technology and human societies that Ruocchio depicts is extremely believable yet mind blowing. Intense drama, intense mystery, great story - I'm hooked and have alarms set for when Book 4 is slated to come out.

Historia
Tokyo resident Keiko Furukara has never fit in - neither in her family, nor in school - but when at the age of 18 she begins working at the Hiiromachi branch of national convenience store chain Smile Mart, she realizes instantly that she has found her purpose in life. Delighted to be able to exist in a place where the rules of social interaction are crystal clear (many are laid out line-by-line in the store's manual), Keiko does her best to copy the dress, mannerisms, and mode of speech of her colleagues, playing the part of a "normal" person excellently, more or less.

Fell flat compared to the rest of the series
Revisado: 05-05-21
I usually cannot put any of her books down, as intrigue, sex, magic, and the characters take turns to keep me hooked. This one was flat, a constant drone of tired injustices and therapy talk. Bummed, but will continue to support.

Historia
It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments - the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams - that contributed to the person I am today. This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival, and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.

Best performance I've heard so far in my collection, seriously amazing. Was hooked onto the story but the ending seemed like it was from a different book, was a little confusing.
