I love this guy Tim Curran! He goes for it! Bikers, mutants, cannibal parasite animated undead! Demons! Tons of action. Wish there was more by him on Audible. Great style! Some dark wordsmithing that made me shake my head and say wow! That was a sentence! In the most enjoyable way. Great contemporary horror writer.

Historia
In the deepest, darkest jungles of Indochina, an ancient evil is waiting in a forgotten, primeval valley. It is patient, monstrous, and bloodthirsty. Perfectly adapted to its hot, steaming environment, it strikes its chosen prey: human. Now Michael Spiers, a marine sniper, the only survivor of a previous encounter with the beast, is going after it again. Against his better judgment, he is made part of a Marine Force recon team that will hunt it down and destroy it. The hunters are about to become the hunted.

I took a chance on Symbiosis and loved it! I had never heard of Tim Curran. Glad I took that chance. He’s a solid horror author. Grimweave was intense! Marines come across some gnarly shit in the jungle of Vietnam. And that’s all I’m gonna say!

Historia
From the hosts of This Is Horror podcast comes a dark thriller of obsession, paranoia, and voyeurism. After relocating to a small coastal town, Brian discovers a hole that gazes into his neighbour’s bedroom. Every night she dances and he peeps. Same song, same time, same wild, and mesmerising dance. But soon, Brian suspects he’s not the only one watching, and she’s not the only one being watched.

Revisado: 06-10-22
Great story by the guys that do This is Horror podcast! These authors are so enthusiastic about the genre. It’s great to start getting their contributions to the horror canon. I know they’ve been doing it for a while, and publishing other authors. So cool to be able to put their work into my Audible library. As far as the story goes, I’m just gonna say…. This poor fucker….. but hope! There is hope, there is yearning and innocence and maybe love…….and there is……Darkness.

Historia
In 1863, a young woman's heritage is stolen from her, and she lays a terrible curse on the City of Angels. Now, in the 21st century, a teenaged girl with lethal psychic abilities arrives in Los Angeles, ready to ally herself with vengeful spirits of the past to feed her insatiable appetite for destruction. Only Gwen Michaelson, a natural healer afraid of her gifts, and Sam West, a broken amnesiac who was once a brilliant historian, stand against the psychotic and increasingly powerful May Blanco.

Lisa Morton is great!
Revisado: 08-30-21
She’s a solid writer. Great tale of psychic powers coming into awareness, and clashing. On one end, a childish angry black force of destruction, day by day learning the joys of following every raging impulse. On the other, a healing, generous force, building in its own power to put back together things broken and to set right those astray. There is Los Angeles and it’s hidden history. A great cast of local LA color. I loved Dom, the Psychic Eye, oops I mean the Tree of Life( not Bhodi Tree) bookstore owner. I’d love to see a short story expanding on his exploits. A horrible man. Greedy, self serving, occult dabbler, who thinks he’s found a treasure he can exploit when May shows up at his store. And what what a great villain she is! Lisa Morton. Rock and roll!

That changes the day that Debra Rocks enters his confessional. A rough-talking adult film actress, she has come to ask him to pray for a murdered costar.

Revisado: 07-10-21
McCammon is such a good writer! With as much darkness and morbidity that he can call up, just as much hope and humanity can he bring forth as well! His stories are so rich and filled with color.

Historia
Now acknowledged as one of the most important classics of 20th-century gothic literature, S.P. Somtow's tale of a 12-year-old rock star vampire, his Jungian analyst, and the Wagnerian conductor who is his nemesis turned the entire genre upside down in the 1980s and is considered the ancestor of the "splatterpunk" movement. Vampire Junction has been voted one of the top 40 horror books of all time.

Mary Terror! This is another great one by Robert McCammon! I’ve wanted to read this since it was published. Never got around to it, but so glad to be able to listen to it now. McCammon really is one of the best and most consistent in the genre. I’ve been reading him since high school. He’s such a great story teller. So solid.

Dark tale featuring classic vampires in the gothic tradition. By that I mean wooden stakes, crucifixes and burning sunlight. Great characters and an interesting Native American element. Good stuff. Put this guy on the reading list. Ready for the next one!
