After listening through the 3 books, I loved the narrator, and highly recommend choosing her for those like me that love a consistent narrator through a series. Truly beautifully done.
My quibble is with L M, who makes the most infuriating decisions regarding the plot, over and over again. I really didn’t like her choices, and felt that so many of them were simply out of character for this beautiful woman she had developed over so many pages. This final book seems to have been about the damaging effects of anger, jealousy, and pride, without much resolution or even awareness on the characters parts. A really sad ending to the trilogy, and a forced listen to find out what happens in the end.

Historia
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

Fantastic story & narrator
Revisado: 02-20-19
This is truly one of the best books I’ve listened to, and directly on the heels of Circe, also by Madeline Miller. Both are fantastic.
This is a story of Achilles, a heroes journey and love story, richly narrated by Frazer Douglas.
Brutal and beautiful; Highly recommend.

Historia
February 1862. The Civil War is less than one year old. The fighting has begun in earnest, and the nation has begun to realize it is in for a long, bloody struggle. Meanwhile, President Lincoln’s beloved eleven-year-old son, Willie, lies upstairs in the White House, gravely ill. In a matter of days, despite predictions of a recovery, Willie dies and is laid to rest in a Georgetown cemetery. “My poor boy, he was too good for this earth,” the president says at the time. “God has called him home.”

Fantastic Cast; indiscernible narrative.
Revisado: 02-20-19
This is such a fun listen, if you divorce yourself from the concept of following the narrative. I have a vague idea of the plot, but whether the actors are speaking as multiple characters, or as only one, I have not a clue. Want to love it, but this likely is a book that disseminates a great deal of information visually, and it just doesn’t really work via audio.

Historia
When New Yorker Rachel Chu agrees to spend the summer in Singapore with her boyfriend, Nicholas Young, she envisions a humble family home and quality time with the man she hopes to marry. But Nick has failed to give his girlfriend a few key details. One, that his childhood home looks like a palace; two, that he grew up riding in more private planes than cars; and three, that he just happens to be the country’s most eligible bachelor.

A great listen

I really enjoyed this story. What I expected would be a beach-reading type book, definitely satisfied in terms of intriguing plot development, but was balanced w a surprising amount of depth and reality.
I really enjoyed the narrator’s vocal choices — my roommate who is from mainland China tells me she really created a realistic depiction of wealthy Singaporeans.
After listening, we are both excited for this summer’s release of the movie. Definitely going opening weekend — cant wait to see how Kitty translates to the big screen!

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Good...but not a 5 star book
Revisado: 07-24-17
I got this bc of the reviews, so I wanted to leave feedback that would temper the rating for readers like me, who appreciate award winning fiction. While the audio production itself is excellent in terms of performance, the plausibility of the plot and the direction the story takes, for me, were not up the the caliber I was expecting. It reminded me of an M Night Shamalan story, and I'm not talking 6th Sense.
I listened all the way through, but man, was I rolling my eyes at choices the author made regarding the climax of the story arc.
