Very interesting story

I really enjoyed this story. Good plot overall. I was not sure I would enjoy this story and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I became invested in the characters. The narrator did an excellent job conveying the emotions of the characters. overall a very fun read. I would even listen to a sequel if one becomes available on audio.

I enjoyed the narrator and that is what kept me interested in the story.

the book has potential with its characters. the story just develops so very slowly and did not seem to have enough purpose or depth so that it did not keep my attention very well.

I just wish I could write like this and that more authors still did. Everything is alive, personified, and that life gives the story a magical quality. Very little of the book is devoted to the Atlantic flight that made Markham famous. Most of it is lovely description of growing up in Africa. There is no mention of Markham's pre-marital or extra-marital affairs; in fact though surrounded by men, Markham makes no mention of romantic interest. While this leaves out a noteworthy part of her life, it effectively keeps the reader's focus on the great adventure of flight in untamed country.
Worth the read.
