Historia
A soul-stirring biography of John Marshall, the young Republic's great chief justice who led the Supreme Court to power and brought law and order to the nation. In the political turmoil that convulsed America after George Washington's death, the surviving Founding Fathers went mad - literally pummeling each other in Congress and challenging one another to deadly duels in their quest for power. Out of the political intrigue, one man emerged to restore calm and dignity to the government: John Marshall.

One of the best biographies I have read
Revisado: 12-15-20
Speaker was easy to listen to and content particularly the relationships between these men was explored. I wish my history and government classes had been this interesting. The book urges me to read a Jefferson bio because he is represented as an anarchist here. Maybe that is true. Would like to know if there is more balance with further reading.

Historia
Bill Bryson once again proves himself to be an incomparable companion as he guides us through the human body - how it functions, its remarkable ability to heal itself, and (unfortunately) the ways it can fail. Full of extraordinary facts (your body made a million red blood cells since you started reading this) and irresistible Bryson-esque anecdotes, The Body will lead you to a deeper understanding of the miracle that is life in general and you in particular. As Bill Bryson writes, "We pass our existence within this wobble of flesh and yet take it almost entirely for granted."

A must for every human
Revisado: 11-18-20
This book was recommended to me by a family member. It is an excellent owners manual for each and everyone of us. Bryson has done the research and written so eloquently about the science of the body and the people who have contributed to our understanding. He also has an excellent speaking voice and cadence as well as a sense of humor that makes the material easily digestible and enjoyable.

Historia
From his perspective in Renaissance Italy, Machiavelli's aim in this classic work was to resolve conflict with the ruling prince, Lorenzo de Medici. Machiavelli based his insights on the way people really are rather than an ideal of how they should be. This is the world's most famous master plan for seizing and holding power. Astonishing in its candor The Prince even today remains a disturbingly realistic and prophetic work on what it takes to be a prince, a king, or a president.

Timeless Knowledge
Revisado: 11-11-19
Lengendary writer Niccolo Machiavelli's writings apply just as much to the nature of power hierarchies today as they did in renaissance Florence (save the murdering) as the nature of mankind has not changed.

Teachings of a Legendary Master
Revisado: 11-08-19
These teachings are not meant to be taken literally. Taking them literally is not the way. Reflect and ponder, analyze, analogize, metaphorize, and begin walking "the way".
