Historia
Every expectant parent will tell you that they don't want a perfect baby, just a healthy one. Charlotte and Sean O'Keefe would have asked for a healthy baby, too, if they'd been given the choice. Instead their lives are made up of sleepless nights, mounting bills, the pitying stares of "luckier" parents, and, maybe worst of all, the what-ifs.

The shallowness of the premise of the story
Revisado: 01-14-25
I have thoroughly enjoyed several of Jody Picoult's books, however, I stopped reading this one when it became obvious that the main conflict was the idea that her best friend might have missed an earlier diagnosis of her child's condition. That premise hangs by a thread, having been thought up by a malpractice attorney. though this can hair splitting.

A Masterpiece of historical fiction
Revisado: 03-10-23
Mega Spera's character and family dynamics portrayals are rich and deep, and believable. She captured a piece of southern life from the perspective of three different classes of people, including how they were inter-dependent on each other. Her story brings out many social issues that we are still dealing with today. I "lost" myself into the story, which I find the best compliment about reading novels. She painted the settings as strongly as she did the characters, so it truly was one of those books that you can "see" as you read. There was suspense and a satisfying resolution, except for the fact that the conclusion didn't cover one of the important characters and what happened to him. I w Coonder why she didn't include that. That is my only reason for giving the story only four stars. This book was a treasure to read and crafted with a depth true to the nature of our society. This sounds pretty heady, however putting it another way it was simply a great read!

one dimensional, tedious.
Revisado: 01-02-23
In contrast to The Lovely Bones, this story has no redeeming value. The premise is quite implausible, and the author didn't get into the motivation of the main character for doing what she did. I tried to stick with it, but it continued to be tedious to listen to. it is a badly told tragic story. Colorless.

Historia
Jane falls in love with Duncan easily. He is charming, good-natured, and handsome, but unfortunately, he has also slept with nearly every woman in Boyne City, Michigan. Jane sees Duncan's old girlfriends everywhere—at restaurants, at the grocery store, even three towns away. While Jane may be able to come to terms with dating the world's most prolific seducer of women, she wishes she did not have to share him quite so widely.

Not much depth, rather boring
Revisado: 05-27-21
I like a book with rich descriptions so I can see the characters and the settings in color in my mind’s eye while I am reading or listening. This book had very little of that. Some of the secondary characters were pretty extreme, unnecessarily. I thought about stopping listening several times, but I persevered, since sometimes there’s a reward for that. None in this book. I would call it an ordinary story, written with no flare. The central love story was nice, but the surrounding supporting characters didn’t add anything to the story in my opinion. The dilemma of the main character, which drove her choices, was actually the only interesting thing in the book. Oh well.TV

Historia
As a sixteen-year-old, Tessa Cartwright was found in a Texas field, barely alive amid a scattering of bones, with only fragments of memory as to how she got there. Ever since, the press has pursued her as the lone surviving “Black-Eyed Susan”, the nickname given to the murder victims because of the yellow carpet of wildflowers that flourished above their shared grave. Tessa’s testimony about those tragic hours put a man on death row.

A bit too weird in it’s plot and complicated resolution.
Revisado: 11-26-19
The main character became real, but none of the supporting characters were developed, and were stereotypes rather than being influential in the main character’s life. Seemed like a good mystery at first, but the ending was quite unsatisfying, attempting to be more complicated than it needed to be, bringing in new elements right at the end with no backstory. Enjoyable to a point, but I would recommend it to friends.

This is just one guy telling of his fan fascination with Stevie Nix- his memories. Maybe worthy of party conversation, but certainly not a book.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Fantastical
Revisado: 07-01-19
A story of suffering and triumph-not a grand triumph, but one clearly shaped by wounds-and love. The story is both fantastical and real. I was completely opened up, talking back to the characters as they made “mistakes” and being angry, more angry than the young woman at the center of the story, when she was wronged. A great tale, exploring human and animal nature as they live side by side.

Surprisingly realistic and deep.
Revisado: 05-29-16
This is one of those great young adult books which adults would enjoy immensely. It's the story of a wonderful, close relationship between a father and a 15-year-old daughter. It's also a story of what happens when a loved one makes a decision to go away, and how we handle grief and loss. The characters stay true to their natures throughout, no matter what happens. It's a gem, that I would highly recommend to teenagers and adults alike who are drawn to stories that deal with real life difficulties.
