Historia
William de Worde is the accidental editor of the Discworld's first newspaper. Now he must cope with the traditional perils of a journalist's life - people who want him dead, a recovering vampire with a suicidal fascination for flash photography, some more people who want him dead in a different way and, worst of all, the man who keeps begging him to publish pictures of his humorously shaped potatoes.

I ended up loving this book even though when it started I was disappointed that it was a one-off, not about one of the main groups of characters. It could be satire written yesterday, it so perfectly describes the Times we live in.

Historia
Rincewind, inept wizard and reluctant hero, has found himself magically stranded on the Discworld's last continent. It's hot. It's dry. There was this thing once called The Wet, which no one believes in any more. Practically everything that's not poisonous is venomous. But it's the best bloody place in the world, all right? And in a few days, it will die. The only thing standing between the last continent and wind-blown doom is Rincewind, and he can't even spell wizard. Still...no worries, eh?

5 stars for the god
Revisado: 08-09-24
I didn't like this as much as the others in Discworld but, gave it five stars for the god scenes. I do love Rincewind too, he's the luckiest unlucky person ever.

Historia
Somewhere on the frontier between thought and reality exists the Discworld, a parallel time and place that might sound and smell very much like our own, but that looks completely different. It plays by different rules. Certainly it refuses to succumb to the quaint notion that universes are ruled by pure logic and the harmony of numbers. But just because the Disc is different doesn't mean that some things don't stay the same.

Turned it off.
Revisado: 06-30-24
I once was a Hollows fangirl in the extreme, waiting outside a bookstore for hours to be first in line at a signing. I figured I loved them so much when I read the physical books, I should buy the audiobooks. Thing is, you can't skim an audiobook, you have to listen to every annoying word or lose the story. I was holding on by a thread last book, then the fight scene in Vegas happened in this book, where everyone thinks "it's part of the show", and I had to turn it off.
Rachel is a twit (could replace that vowel with another and it still stands), she's rude, self-righteous, and unbelievably stupid. Trent is just as idiotic except he has money and is beautiful, as we're continually reminded. Ivy, Jenks, and Al should've have cut their losses with Rachel long ago. She might be the main character but, no one could treat their friends and family the way she treats them and still have anyone left who would talk to them, let alone die for them.
At least I only bought half of the audio books.

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

Excellent in every way
Revisado: 08-08-23
An audiobook does not get any better than this. Jane Austen prose read by an actor who actually played Jane Bennet in one of the best adaptations of P&P. Rosamund Pike delivers a perfect performance for each character in this reading with her smooth, lovely voice (altered of course, per character, as to illustrate their differences). I can't wait to hear her read Sense and Sensibility next!

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

Historia
It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on. I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine. It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back.

The second book in the series doesn't disappoint. Story, humor, narrators, romance, characters - all excellent. I find a little piece of myself in every one of her characters; I get JD, Elliot, Vera, and Kal. That's some damned good writing.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

I LOVED this book. Smart. Funny. Romantic.
Revisado: 02-01-23
I so needed a cute, romantic, funny book. This was it. Exactly what I needed. I absolutely loved the characters, the original meet-cute set up, the dialog, everything. I also loved that it's got a little swearing and a tiny bit of suggestive dialog but it's not a skip-a-love-scene every chapter kind of romance.
My one and only criticism is about the almost tech speak; the website would've rendered on her phone OK since (according to the story) it was her computer OS that was old, not the phone. If it wasn't working on her phone AND her computer that's a different issue than what is outlined in the book.

With a sharp eye and wry wit, Roger Hall recounts his experiences as an American Army officer assigned to the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during World War II. In his droll storytelling style, Hall describes his first parachute jump in support of the French resistance as a comedy of errors that terminated prematurely. Called one of the funniest and most perceptive works ever written about life in the OSS, the book includes a wealth of unforgettable personalities that Hall encountered over the years.

Revisado: 08-11-22
The only character left in the series so far that I did not like was Charity. I should know better by now, if you don't like a character, especially a female one, they will get much better at some point. This was Charity's book to shine.
James Marsters as the reader was, as always, amazing.
