Historia
Irreverent, charming, and eminently quotable, this handbook - an eccentric etiquette guide for the human race - contains 69 aphorisms, anecdotes, whimsical suggestions, maxims, and cautionary tales from Mark Twain’s private and published writings. It dispenses advice and reflections on family life and public manners; opinions on topics such as dress, health, food, and childrearing and safety; and more specialized tips, such as those for dealing with annoying salesmen and burglars.

Unwilling to be forced into a traditional woman’s role in the Midwest, Hazel remains on the West Coast, and finds herself in the bohemian town of Laguna Beach.

She what?
Revisado: 08-03-23
Just when you think she's learned from her mistakes, she does it again over and over and over throughout the entire book. it gets a little heavy or tedious. Good narration.

Historia
It's 1864 in downtrodden Lowell, Massachusetts. The Civil War has taken its toll on the town - leaving the economy in ruin and its women in dire straits. That is, until Asa Mercer arrives on a peculiar, but providential, errand: he seeks high-minded women who can exert an elevating influence in Seattle, where there are ten men for every woman. Mail-order brides, yes, but of a certain caliber.

May have been too long
Revisado: 05-13-19
I wonder if some of the repetitive whining could have been left out. I think I understood the issues and the constant replay of the same problems was too much. I finished but only because I'm as tough as a Mercer Girl?

Historia
Scott Adams was one of the earliest public figures to predict Donald Trump’s election. The mainstream media regarded Trump as a lucky clown, but Adams - best known as “the guy who created Dilbert” - recognized a level of persuasion you only see once in a generation. We’re hardwired to respond to emotion, not reason, and Trump knew exactly which emotional buttons to push. The point isn’t whether Trump was right or wrong, good or bad. Adams goes beyond politics to look at persuasion tools that can work in any setting - the same ones Adams saw in Steve Jobs.

Historia
One couple's inspiring memoir of healing a Rwandan village, raising a family near the old killing fields, and building a restaurant named Heaven. Newlyweds Josh and Alissa were at a party and received a challenge that shook them to the core: Do you think you can really make a difference? Especially in a place like Rwanda, where the scars of genocide linger and poverty is rampant? While Josh worked hard bringing food and health care to the country's rural villages, Alissa was determined to put their foodie expertise to work. The couple opened Heaven, a gourmet restaurant overlooking Kigali, which became an instant success.

Narration makes this almost impossible to enjoy.
Revisado: 06-09-14
How could the performance have been better?
The performance could have been improved by having the narrator read in complete sentences. He would pause in the middle of a sentence and then decide to finish the rest of the sentence later. It drove me almost crazy. He cannot seem to read more than three to five words at a time without stopping. The only time he didn't pause was when he was reading exact quotes. I can't believe someone didn't stop him from narrating this book after he got through the first page. Ugh. I wish I hadn't bought the audible version.
