Historia
Nina Argenta doesn’t want the traditional life of a rural Italian woman. The daughter of a strong-willed midwife, she is determined to define her own destiny. But when her brother emigrates to America, she promises her mother to never leave. When childhood friend Pietro Pante briefly returns to their mountain town, passion between them ignites while Mussolini forces political tensions to rise. Just as their romance deepens, Pietro must leave again for work in the coal mines of America. Nina is torn between joining him and her commitment to Italy and her mother.

True story with happy ending
Revisado: 05-01-24
I really enjoyed this book as I love historical novels and as an obstetrical nurse really enjoyed the stories of midwives during the WW I and WW II era. It is heartbreaking to hear what these brave women endured during 2 wars and the atrocities committed in Italy. I have listened to and read many books about WW II, but this was my first about Italy.
I recommend this book. While it has war atrocities, I was pleased that the language is not vulgar.

Historia
On a sunny morning in May 1939, a phalanx of 867 women - housewives, doctors, opera singers, politicians, prostitutes - was marched through the woods 50 miles north of Berlin, driven on past a shining lake, then herded in through giant gates. Whipping and kicking them were scores of German women guards. Their destination was Ravensbrück, a concentration camp designed specifically for women by Heinrich Himmler, prime architect of the Holocaust.

Heart wrenching
Revisado: 04-12-23
This is a very detailed, thoroughly and well written account of the entire history of the atrocities of Ravensbruck. I commend the author for her courageous research and writing as well as the narrator. I do not know how she went on as listening was hard to take at times.
May the world never forget that intolerance of those that are different from yourself to the point of wishing them to no longer exist is a great sin against God and all humanity. I am glad for this chance to educate myself and pray that others will listen and heed the warnings of hatred.

Historia
When the Nazis invaded Hungary in 1944, they sent virtually the entire Jewish population to Auschwitz. A Jew and a medical doctor, the prisoner Dr. Miklos Nyiszli was spared death for a grimmer fate: to perform "scientific research" on his fellow inmates under the supervision of the man who became known as the infamous "Angel of Death" - Dr. Josef Mengele. Nyiszli was named Mengele's personal research pathologist. In that capacity he also served as physician to the Sonderkommando, the Jewish prisoners who worked exclusively in the crematoriums and were routinely executed after four months.

Historia
In a quaint, antiquarian bookshop in the Midlands of England, a woman is captivated by a rare gilt-edged devotional nestled within an exquisite and equally tempting box. Her desire to pilfer it overcomes her scruples, and her guilt and terror at doing something so audacious, so unlike her. With a simple sleight of hand, it's hers.

Wow!
Revisado: 12-30-21
The writing and research in this book are phenomenal and truly appear to be guided by the hand of God.
Whoa be to the nation who has forgotten that their foundation and sustaining has been by the hand of Almighty God and not their own might.
I pray that America turns back to her Godly foundation and away from the god of self.
May the people of America humble themselves before the God of all creation, pray for forgiveness and turn from our wicked sins so that our land and peoples may be set on the right path and become a light on a hill that all nations might see the works of our Almighty God and Savior.

Astounding
Revisado: 12-30-21
This book is written excellently and the reader does a very nice job in the reading and voice deflections.
The content of this book should be read or heard by every American and person worldwide that believes communism and socialism is not a bad idea and practice for society.
A society without God and the influence of the love of Christ is a wicked and terrifying place to live indeed. Without turning to God, this is the direction our world is headed…. A Godless and wicked people.
