Touches on the essence of what makes us human. This is just what I needed to hear during Covid-19 lockdown.

This is the last thing I would recommend to a grieving person! Listening was a painful experience. Too much repetition. The author told me what she was going to say, then said it, and followed up with telling me what she said. I may be dealing with grief, but I can hear just fine, no need to tell me things three times. If I need to review it I can listen again. I'm trying to care for myself, not review for a test. Oh, and then there were the lists. What the af? I can't imagine any person who enjoys hearing a list being read aloud, unless perhaps, as a tool for sleeping.

I did want to learn about the 4 Facets of Grief, so I listened the whole way through. They are in there, along with some helpful information and couple of good anecdotes from the authors own life. Perhaps with help of a good editor this could become a great pamphlet or short ebook, but don't waste your time on listening to this one.

In a world of fake news, social media and constant name calling Abdul-Jabbar offers s refreshing and well-thought solutions to many of our current issues from healthcare to housing to education all offered in anti-racist equitable ways that would benefit everyone.. This isn't some dry tome either, but full of Pop culture references and real life contemporary examples.

Like Adbul-Jabbar's other pieces on the Harlem Renaissance, this one gives a birds eye's view and then swoops in on the juicy tidbits. In this case it's Jazz and the juicy bits are Ellington, Armstrong, Wallet, and more.

I wasn't sure I would like this book, but to my surprise I was delighted. Mycroft is NOT Sherlock, but he does have a quick and brilliant mind. His gentleman's gentleman is a Trinidadian tobacco merchant with an equal intellect. Together they unravel an international money laundering, human trafficking, and murders that lead to the highest levels of royalty.

The book is historically well researched and includes a multicultural cast off characters who are fully dimensional. It is fast moving with excellent narration. I highly recommend it.

Sometimes a heavy deep story isn't what you need. Sometimes it's just fine fun. This book fits the bill. Fast paced and mostly dialog it will keep you engaged. And a cliff-hanger ending to have you come back for more!
