Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Action, dragons, twists and turns literally and figuratively! Leaves ACOTAR in its shadow!
Revisado: 12-11-24
This is one of the smartest, most entertaining books I have read since the Divergent or the Hunger Games series. The plot is always changing and just when you think you will know what’s next, you don’t. Stories and plots within the story! Really great story teller. The narrator was fantastic as well.
I wanted to jump back in the fantasy train since I previously have read LOTR/ Divergent/ Chronicles of Narnia/ Hunger Games books. I started with ACOTAR…but barely made it through the first one. Unpopular opinion it was a tough read and felt really amateur. But thought I would give it another try with a popular series. So happy I did!
The action sequences were phenomenal and I felt like I was there. The character development was so good I’m praying it gets turned into a series. The first book alone could be easily 8-10 hour long HBO episodes. The only thing personally that bummed me out was the graphic sex scenes. As graphic as the action scenes. lol. To the authors credit, she waited until 2/3 the way through the book….but then, wowza! I would have loved to shared the books with my 13 year old niece. Story could have been just as good without the sex and had a bigger audience. But that’s just a parental advisory.

Historia
On an ordinary Monday morning, Ariel Cafferty's phone buzzes with a disturbing text message. Something’s happened. I need to see you. Meet me under the candelabra tree ASAP. The words would be jarring from anyone, but the sender is the only man she ever loved. And it's been several years since she learned he died. Seeing Drew’s name pop up is heart-stopping. Ariel’s gut says it can’t be real. But she goes to the tree anyway. She has to. Nobody shows.

Not the worst book, not the best.

The male narrator…just isn’t for me. The story was hard to get through. Nothing exciting or suspenseful really. Didn’t really love any of the characters. It’s an Ehh for me.

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Such a great story to tell!
Revisado: 08-20-24
Without giving anything away, I think we have all thought about the lives we could have had. The way this book navigates this idea is brilliant and it’s one that will stay with me for a very long time!

Impossible to Put Down
Revisado: 02-01-24
I listened to this in a day. I laughed, raged, and ugly cried. Mark has an easy way with words…I felt like I was with a friend, listening to their journey.
Such a vulnerable and honest story of love, grief, empathy, and joy. But it’s so much more. Pushing through and finding joy in life, when it feels like there is none left is so powerful. I feel that Mark and Jason’s compassion and patience has helped me grow into a better person, or at least it better.
This is a great read for anyone experiencing love and loss. But I would definitely recommend to anyone looking into adoption or foster care…or even parenthood. No, I would recommend this to anyone. We all would be better to learn from Mark and his family’s journey.
This personal story I will never ever forget.

Favorite this year!
Revisado: 05-19-18
This book caught me by the colorful cover and the catchy subtitle as I have felt it hard lately to love people that drive me nuts or I see do malicious or hateful things. It brought me back to a center of who I want to be. It’s also a great short listen, and can be done in a day.
