Pointless and boring
Revisado: 02-22-23
I'm not sure what the point of this book is. It's a mediocre story about boring people behaving stupidly and doing stupid things. I'm glad it was free, but I'd like to be reimbursed for the time I wasted listening to it. Yes, it was that bad.

Historia
Naomi Shaw used to believe in magic. Twenty-two years ago, she and her two best friends, Cassidy and Olivia, spent the summer roaming the woods, imagining a world of ceremony and wonder. They called it the Goddess Game. The summer ended suddenly when Naomi was attacked. Miraculously, she survived her seventeen stab wounds and lived to identify the man who had hurt her. The girls’ testimony put away a serial killer, wanted for murdering six women. They were heroes.

Better than expected
Revisado: 02-14-23
Aside from an abundance of unnecessary melodrama, this is a decent and entertaining story. I did not suspect the twist at the end which is always a fun surprise. It's not the greatest story I've ever heard, but engaging enough with good narration.

A tiresome slog
Revisado: 02-10-23
I've read all the previous books by this author, and have enjoyed them immensely. However, there is something about the pace of this book that just doesn't work. It went on far too long and did not get interesting until about the last three hours. I stuck with it out of loyalty to the author, and there was a bit of a pay off, but I was disappointed with the overall quality of the book.

Poor, flimsy plot development, shallow one-dimensional characters, and a mediocre story full of "twists" shoe-horned in sporadically. Those
are the main ingredients in this book. It's somewhat entertaining, but an overall waste of time.

Historia
The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore ( Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving.

I’m done with this series. It had promise at the beginning, but it just felt like more churned out product. I did finish it so it was entertaining enough to continue, but I do not recommend.

Definitely not her best
Revisado: 01-29-23
Yikes. This one was a disappointment. It’s entertaining enough, but by no stretch of the imagination is it good, or original. The performances are adequate, pace is also fine, but it was frankly just average and predictable. Proceed at your own risk.

A book about horrible people doing horrible things
Revisado: 01-27-23
I'm not necessarily opposed to reading books about incredibly unlikable people, but I like to hope the books will have at least a little something redeeming about them. That is not the case with this book. Sure, it is entertaining and engaging, but if you're looking for more than that, you should look somewhere else. The characters are incredibly shallow, not to mention incredibly dumb. I'm glad I got it for free.

When aging fisherman Louis Mann hears a voice summoning him to an off-limits stretch of Long Island Sound, he knows he might be going crazy but feels compelled to heed the call. A big enough haul of summer flounder could be the windfall Lou needs to change his life–what little time he has left. But then his nets get stuck on something lodged in the ocean floor, uncovering a mystery that quickly ensnares three equally damaged strangers.

In “You Just Need to Lose Weight,” Aubrey Gordon equips listeners with the facts and figures to reframe myths about fatness in order to dismantle the anti-fat bias ingrained in how we think about and treat fat people. Bringing her dozen years of community organizing and training to bear, Gordon shares the rhetorical approaches she and other organizers employ to not only counter these pernicious myths, but to dismantle the anti-fat bias that so often underpin them.

Excellent!
Revisado: 01-13-23
I am a long time fan of Aubrey Gordon and a devoted listener of maintenance phase. A lot of the information in this book is not new to me. However, I still found it to be an exceptional read as It provided way more in-depth information than I expected. Additionally, it is helped me too interrogate my own bias and examine my own behavior in greater depth. There will be parts of this book that will make you deeply uncomfortable, especially when asked to look inward at your own attitudes and beliefs and the ways you may also be inflicting harm on others. Don’t be deterred. For me this was the most important and essential part of the book!
Thank you, Aubrey! Keep up the amazing and courageous work.
