Masterful

Theodore Roosevelt was a man among boys.
The reader does a good job narrating, I only wish he incorporated the stutter that Teddy had.

Historia
This title offers a first-person diary account of living through the Great Depression, with haunting parallels to our own time. Benjamin Roth was born in New York City in 1894. When the stock market crashed in 1929, he had been practicing law for approximately ten years, largely representing local businesses. After nearly two years, he began to grasp the magnitude of what had happened to American economic life, and he began writing down his impressions in a diary that he maintained intermittently until he died in 1978.

To have someone’s personal thoughts from this place in time is something that’s hard to put a price on.
The music was a nice touch too.

Historia
The Spanish Flu was one of the deadliest viral outbreaks in history. It erupted just as World War I was coming to an end in 1918. The virus wreaked havoc across the entire world and ravaged as many 50 million lives by conservative estimates. While we do not know about the true epicenter of the fatal disease, it spread globally with soldiers as carriers. While the sad event is etched on the hearts of those who suffered from it, those who lived to tell about it also shared the lessons learned.

I hope that this is the narrator’s first audiobook, and that he gets at least a B in his ESL class. You just have to smile at some of his pronunciations. The accent is hard to place. Once you realize what word he is trying to say, he’s not that hard to understand.
The content of the book is worth the listen for almost any adult with the current pandemic.

Historia
Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

Immoral

I really don’t think the theories and principles have any moral backing.
I found myself listening to this book thinking, “Wow, if a salesperson used that technique on me, I don’t think I would want to do business with them”. I’m sure if you’re subtle about it you can slip by, but I have one question for those; how do you sleep at night?
The performance isn’t bad.
I can’t say I finished this book, even though I make myself finish every book I purchase. After about halfway through I felt like I was reading hitlers personal journal or something.
