Historia
The first and only biography of intrepid attorney James B. Donovan, who was recruited by the CIA during the Cold War to broker near-impossible negotiations - now the basis for Steven Spielberg's Cold War film Bridge of Spies. Charming, bold, and good humored, James Donovan was a larger-than-life figure who led a fascinating and magnificently varied career, primarily as a negotiator on behalf of prisoners.

Historia
They say that history is written by the victors. But not in the case of the most famous dissenter on the Supreme Court. Almost a century after his death, John Marshall Harlan’s words helped end segregation and gave us our civil rights and our modern economic freedom. But his legacy would not have been possible without the courage of Robert Harlan, a slave who John’s father raised like a son in the same household.

Important history of the court
Revisado: 05-20-23
The book really took off for me once Harlan was seated on the court. So many critical snd legendary cases were decided during his time on the bench. An excellent history.

The prize-winning and best-selling author of Say Nothing presents a grand, devastating portrait of three generations of the Sackler family, famed for their philanthropy, whose fortune was built by Valium and whose reputation was destroyed by OxyContin. Excellent. Superb writing.
Revisado: 08-06-21
The story is fascinating from beginning to end. I loved keefe’s writing style. It’s like someone is telling you a story. I appreciate his reminding you of who people are when they haven’t been mentioned for awhile. He’s also an excellent narrator. I live in Appalachia near abingdon Virginia and have watched this horror unfold around me and eventually engulf friends and family. I was hesitant to delve into a book on the subject, but I am very glad that I listened to this one.

Historia
Are leaders born or made? Where does ambition come from? How does adversity affect the growth of leadership? Does the man make the times or do the times make the man? In Leadership, Goodwin draws upon four of the presidents she has studied most closely - Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Lyndon B. Johnson (in civil rights) - to show how they first recognized leadership qualities within themselves, and were recognized by others as leaders.

Historia
Best-selling author Mary Roach returns with a new adventure to the invisible realm we carry around inside. Roach takes us down the hatch on an unforgettable tour. The alimentary canal is classic Mary Roach terrain: The questions explored in Gulp are as taboo, in their way, as the cadavers in Stiff and every bit as surreal as the universe of zero gravity explored in Packing for Mars. Why is crunchy food so appealing? Why is it so hard to find words for flavors and smells? Why doesn’t the stomach digest itself? How much can you eat before your stomach bursts?
