A different angle on a thriller!

I really appreciated the fresh angle that the author used to develop the background of the main characters, from whose view the story is told. I appreciate that the author introduced the supernatural elements adequately yet not overly theorized or explained. It was just enough to let my mind wander into that realm & enjoy the characters’ other attributes & personalities. I enjoyed it & it kept my attention. The narration was very good & never got in the way of the story.

Kept my interest

I’ve been having trouble keeping interested & attentive to so many books lately. This book did keep my attention & I didn’t have to rewind too many times. There were many twists & turns that I didn’t figure out. Narration was great. There was a character who was very annoying to me & their dialogue & actions caused a sense of friction & unease for me. But all in all, that just added to the suspense!

The story kept me listening through many activities. Never a dull moment & it had an informative element which I always appreciate. Unlike many reviews, I found the narrator’s styIe to be fast, intense & no BS, which added to the feeling of action & speed. I really liked it!

Beautiful description. Excellent narration! Times may have changed, but the elements of society haven’t- so relatable! It kept my complete attention & stimulated my imagination. A few ‘mature rated’ characters & suggested activities- not for unnecessary sensationalism, but as important elements of the story.

Lots of creativity! I always love the authors’ undercurrent of possible supernatural elements. I always learn a lot about the settings in their books. My only negative comment is that the volume of the narrator varies significantly with various characters. l listen on headphones outside among noise & so I found myself either having to repeat sections with volume higher or lower.

Love the characters & the surprise visitor! I always learn so much historical & archeological background with all Preston/Child books. The narrator sounded slightly slow but was perfect when sped to 1.1x speed.
