Lost interest
Revisado: 05-15-23
Great start but I love interest around half way through. The other prequel was more engaging so I’ve still got hope for the series. And RC Bray was of course fantastic!

Poor narration

Decent content, nothing new or surprising.
The narrator reads painfully slowly and can often be heard licking and smacking his lips.

The best
Revisado: 11-07-20
As a former rotary pilot that always had a fascination with all things jets and flying this is the best! Nothing beats all the first hand accounts. Jello is an incredible host and the guests are epic and as varied as you can hope for. Best of all Jello absolutely does answer you send in and personally responds to emails etc!

Good story, weak narration
Revisado: 04-14-19
A good storyline (not on the level of Liberty though) but it was utterly let down by the narration. Others liked it but it just did not work for me and quickly became a book I had to force myself to finish.

Historia
It all began like an epic adventure. Finding the Tear of the Demon King and the Black Sword, journeying to the lost continent, meeting good friends, and battling vicious adversaries. It was a breakthrough into the depths of the virtual world, where no one before me had gone. Everything changed, however, the day Brandt Ironfist blackmailed me into traveling to the very place in the Blighted Wasteland where, according to the old Walker stories, death itself lived. I came back alive and brought back the infragun.

Big improvement over book 2
Revisado: 03-25-19
I enjoyed book 1 a lot, though not as much as other books of this type. Book 2 was honestly hard to stay focused on and keep up with — I had to force myself to listen and finish it so I was hesitant to get book 3. I won’t spoil the storyline but this was a big improvement and worth the listen!

Excellent Surprise!
Revisado: 12-15-18
Without spoiling the book I will say the it was an all around excellent surprise! The end was anything but what I expected and overall the book was not at all what I expected - it turned out to be far better! A bit of a slow start and I wasn't taken in by the story initially but once the two storylines got going I was hooked!
Narrator was good, not excellent but well suited for the story.

In 1914, the war which was to have been wrapped up by Christmas had - in reality - only just begun, as all sides entrenched themselves deeper into the Great War. Christmas Eve, 1914 follows one company of British officers as they rotate forward to spend their Christmas on the front lines, a mere 80 yards from the German guns. Upper- and working-class men and boys are thrown together into one trench and struggle to survive.

Incredible!
Revisado: 12-11-18
Not a lot more I can say than incredible! I honestly didn’t read a lot of the description just that it was an Audible Production and WWI and my interest was peaked. A great holiday story and from the history I have read truthful to the ugly and miserable trenches of WWI.

Started the series and couldn't stop
Revisado: 08-06-18
I had never read (or had an interest in) these type of books until I stumbled on Ready Player One. Since then I have gone through series after series and loved them all! I stumbled on Ascend Online because of the narrator - Luke Daniels. I haven't listened to a book read by him that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed and Ascend is no exception! The series immediately brought me right in to it and I couldn't stop listening until I got through all three books and now I am anxiously awaiting another!
If you enjoy other other books of this type Ascend is a must read!

Ron Chernow examines the forces that made dynasties like the Morgans, the Warburgs, and the Rothschilds the financial arbiters of the early twentieth century and then rendered them virtually obsolete by the century's end. As he traces the shifting balance of power among investors, borrowers, and bankers, Chernow evokes both the grand theater of capital and the personal dramas of its most fascinating protagonists.

Good performance, not engaging
Revisado: 12-28-17
The performance by Michael Kramer was very well done. I was very interested in the subject of the book however I just could not get in to it and keep my focus because of his writing style. Though I must say he does throw a lot of very interesting information at you throughout the book and in an overall short amount of time.
