Historia
For the past twenty years, Lee Child has been one of the bestselling authors in the world, thanks to the popularity of his iconic and instantly recognizable hero Jack Reacher. But even at the height of Reacher's fame, Child's short story writing was not confined to the series; throughout the course of his career, he published tales about a range of characters on both sides of the law, including assassins, a body guard, CIA and FBI agents, gangsters, and more.

Brilliant, bold storytelling
Revisado: 01-10-25
These short stories are not about Reacher, but they reveal exactly what it is about Child’s writing that makes the Reacher series so weirdly compelling. Crisp, masculine prose. Unexpected details that hold metaphors. Deep subject matter expertise. And always a twist.

Historia
Could “UFOs” and “aliens” simply be us, but from the future? This provocative new audiobook cautiously examines the premise that extraterrestrials may instead be our distant human descendants, using the anthropological tool of time travel to visit and study us in their own hominin evolutionary past.

I don’t agree with his hypothesis but it’s nonetheless explained very well.

Rational speculation without hype or drama
Revisado: 08-05-21
It’s the only book like it that I’ve found. It presents a single theory of ufos at depth, backed by extensive science-based background information. I wish that it had explored a range of other theories with a similar approach. Whatever they are, ufos behave very oddly, and defy rational explanations. The thesis here is rather persuasive - and moves the conversation forward.

Historia
The questions we ask ourselves determine our lives. Our thoughts are nothing more than a continuous question-and-answer session we have with ourselves. Our lives - material, emotional, spiritual, and financial - are a direct reflection of our thoughts. Eighty-five percent of these thoughts are both habitual and unconscious. Meaning, we are asking and answering the exact same questions every day, usually in the same way over and over again.

The best hour or so I’ve spent listening in a long while. I feel uplifted, energized, and, especially, empowered. Good stuff.

Historia
In every issue of modern society - from climate change to vaccinations, transportation to technology, health care to defense - we are in the midst of an unprecedented expansion of scientific progress and a simultaneous expansion of danger. At the very time we need them most, scientists and the idea of objective knowledge are being bombarded by a vast, well-funded, three-part war on science: the identity politics war on science, the ideological war on science, and the industrial war on science.

The narrator was unbearable!
Revisado: 01-19-17
Is there anything you would change about this book?
An important topic, but I can't comment on the writing because I threw in the towel before the end of the first chapter. The narration is extremely over-dramatic and sales-y - to a degree that would put me off under any circumstance, but especially as the delivery of a rational political and scientific arguement.
