Historia
In the 19th century, the world was Europeanized. In the 20th century, it was Americanized. Now, in the 21st century, the world is being Asianized. The “Asian Century” is even bigger than you think. Far greater than just China, the new Asian system taking shape is a multicivilizational order spanning Saudi Arabia to Japan, Russia to Australia, Turkey to Indonesia - linking five billion people through trade, finance, infrastructure, and diplomatic networks that together represent 40 percent of global GDP.

Focussed on India and China
Revisado: 02-11-20
I agree with the overall theme of the book that Asia is on the rise. However, I think the author spends a lot of time talking about the influence of his native India and China while fails to mention many other Asian countries and cultures which have and continue to influence the world.
Mr. Khanna talks about the movie Eat, Pray and Love, Beatles and Steve Jobs meditating India but does not mention Muhammad Yunus of Bangladesh, winner of Nobel Peace Prize, who introduced the concept of micro lending to the world. He founded Grameen Bank which is now all emulated all over the world including US, Africc and South America to uplift the lives of the poor.
He mentions Saudi Arabia and UAE because of their economic strengths which is very recent. However, he fails to mention monumental influences of the Arab scientists, astronomers, philosopher, physicians and mathematicians; The following are just a few examples.
Al-Biruni- ( 973 AD-1050 AD ) He calculated the circumference of the earth and predicted that there is a big land mass between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans ( the Americas )
Ibn Sina or Avicena ( 980 AD ) - His books ( The Book of Healing and Cannon of Medicine ) were taught in medical schools all over the world including Europe and USA up until 17th century. Was printed in the USA as recently as 1973.
Al-Haytham - Produced a fully functioning camera ( 1231-1288 )

Historia
In this inspirational audiobook, beloved broadcast journalist Jane Pauley helps people in the middle of their lives successfully navigate a "reinvention" phase and build a positive, powerful future. Everyone is talking about "reinvention." President Obama used the term nine times in a State of the Union address. Magazines, newspapers, and online blogs frequently devote coverage to the topic. But even though people are ready to reinvent themselves, many simply don’t know where to start. Jane Pauley is here to help.

A must read for those who are planning to retire
Revisado: 01-14-14
If you could sum up Your Life Calling in three words, what would they be?
She points out that the "retired" life of a baby boomer will be very different from someone in an earlier generation. We are living longer than the generations before. Therefore, it is very imprtant to figure out what we really want to do after we "retire" from our jobs. We cannot sit at home and watch TV, play golf and just travel all the time. There has to be another purpose for the final phase of life. Figuring what that is the challenge.
What about Jane Pauley’s performance did you like?
She read her book very well. I enjoyed listening to her and it reminded of the days I used to listen to her in the mornings on NBC TV in the 1970s
What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?
The career may have been a distraction for something you really wanted to do in life
Any additional comments?
It is a great book. I really enjoyed listening to it. I strongly recommend it.

Historia
Until about 1800, the West and the Islamic realm were like two adjacent, parallel universes, each assuming itself to be the center of the world while ignoring the other. As Europeans colonized the globe, the two world histories intersected and the Western narrative drove the other one under. The West hardly noticed, but the Islamic world found the encounter profoundly disrupting.

This is a great book and should be read by all those who are interested in World Hostory. The historical facts mentioned by the authour are not taught at history classes in the West.
This book covers Islamic history but excludes some important islamic countries/events:
Indonesia- ( largest Muslim country in the world )
Malaysia
Moores in Spain ( mentioned very briefly )

Historical facts should not be mixed with fictions
Revisado: 03-06-13
Would you try another book from Indu Sundaresan and/or Sneha Mathan?
Not if it is a fictionalized story based on facts because it creats confusion about what is true and what is not. I listened to this book with great interest and enjoyed it very much as I felt that I was learning a lot about the historical figures of India about whom I read in my high school. It is my fault because I did not realize until the end that it was a fiction.
It was a big let down. Every day after I came home driving from work, I would tell my wife and the kids about what I learned about Nur Jahan, Sha Jahan, Jahangir and so on. So, I am now embarassed to admit to them most of what I told them may not be true. It actually made me very upset.
