Did not disappoint!

This is the first book I’ve read (or listened to) by this author and was not disappointed! Overall story was well done and world well built. FMC and MMC were both likable. Narration was spot on! I love when voices are split based on dialogue as well as POV. Avoids the whole “male reads in feminine voice” awkwardness. Stunned at cliffhanger though- NOT what I had expected!!

Great story and great narration!

I loved the addition of a third narrator in this third book of the series. All three narrators did an excellent job. As for the story, this book provided a ton of backstory that was needed. I always enjoy detailed world building and this didn’t disappoint. There is still much more to explain and I’m pretty sure it can’t all happen in the one book that is left but I’m still enjoying the story. Horrible cliffhanger. So glad this is a completed series.

Great story. Narration a bit off.

While I liked the overall story here there was something about the narrators that I just didn’t enjoy. Both sounded a bit breathless and FMC was too whiney. I almost picked up the book instead but stuck with the audio. FMC is hiding so much from her past which was a bit annoying in the end. MMCs are a full mix. Dark, grumpy guardian. Adoring, beautiful king. Cocky, rebellious prince. Games & trials. Hidden identity. “She’s mine!” Enemies to lovers.

Interesting listen!

So much about Mr. McConaughey that I didn’t know. Was a bit like a self help book with all of his “Note to self” and “Bumpersticker” rants. Made me want to go back and watch all of his movies again!

This is a great stand alone novel that I absolutely loved! Multiple MMCs were 🤌🤌. FMC is tough and snarky. Definitely reverse harem trope so read trigger warnings if you’re not sure. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Great read!

I am a huge fan of LJ Andrews so had to pick this up. I haven’t read any other books on this series but feel like I may have to try. I’m more into huge world building and this book as a stand alone just wasn’t enough. Maybe reading all of the books in this series will give me that. Andrews is brilliant with character interactions and banter. I wasn’t a huge fan of the female narrator for this but loved the two narrator POV.

This story just didn’t grab me at all. Characters were unappealing and story seemed to have no end goal. The last 5% was the most interesting but not enough to make me want to read more.

I wonder if I would feel differently had I read this instead of listened. I did not like female narrator’s choice of voice for FMC. Was too meek and child like. I love dual narration but male narrator didn’t enter the story until half way through. Male narrator was okay but read a bit too fast.

Overall, I’m just underwhelmed.

Nice narration, flat story.

While I have veered away from historical fictions of late, this was recommended by several readers I admire. While the narration was very good, the story just didn’t grab me. I didn’t like the constant male bashing (I am a married woman with two children.) I get that times were not great for women in the setting of this novel, but the MMC came across as a bit judgy and rude. She doesn’t see much good in anyone and that’s fine if the portrayal requires that for the storyline but I don’t believe it did. Much of the story could be eliminated and still not affect the overall plot arc. Climax and resolution were the best parts of this story in my opinion.
