Historia
In Captive in Iran, Maryam and Marziyeh recount their 259 days in Evin. It’s an amazing story of unyielding faith - when denying God would have meant freedom. Of incredible support from strangers around the world who fought for the women’s release. And of bringing God’s light into one of the world’s darkest places - giving hope to those who had lost everything, and showing love to those in despair.

Beyond Faith
Revisado: 04-12-25
While listening to these two ladies story that could turn into pure terror, abuse, torture and death at any moment…..they show the pure love of a real and true relationship with Jesus. The way that they never denied being a Christian. The way Marziyeh tells her story, it’s as though she saw Jesus in the flesh on the daily and it is absolutely inspirational! Love these two women for all they endured for their love of Jesus. Thank you for spreading his love and for sharing His word to give others a chance to be in heaven with Him forever!
Hoping audible will add Marziyeh’s second book!

Historia
When Candice Curry was a little girl, she put her hand in her father's back pocket so that she wouldn't get lost in large crowds. Little did she know that as she followed him, he was plying his trade: conning people. Her family drove stolen cars, lived in stolen houses, and shopped with stolen credit cards. Drug use was regular, as were visits from strange people who were trying to track her father down. Though she eventually cut ties with her father, Candice could not ignore the scars that were left from her childhood.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 09-21-24
This is so much more and different than I expected. It is one of my favorite books now. I thought it would be kind of to most of the books I read and are interested in. But a little message throughout turns into one of my favorite kind of stories. I love that we hear what she heard most of her young life. That same crushing voice speaking to her is heard by so so many. Way too many. But then that message turns into the loving message and then….into us being able to hear her beautiful story. I am so glad I came across this book. Not sure how it happened, but definitely a favorite and I will read it again in the future. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO THE BEST VOICE!!! He has always known your name and loved you!! 💜💜💜

Wow
Revisado: 08-03-24
I absolutely loved the way Stephanie put her story into words. I loved the way she was able to weave the different time frames of her life in and out with such a smoothness. It was so easy to SEE the story of her life as if watching a movie. The way her words flowed through the entire book is actually one of my favorites, even though the story is so painful. I wanted more stories. The ones during those years on the beach. How these kids made it through each and every day with no food or water or parent, until late in the evening. These children were LITTLE KIDS! I didn’t want the book to end, but I couldn’t stop listening! Stephanie, I have no idea how you lived through your young life. I am so sorry for all you went through and not having just the basic needs of a child. I am happy of how your story ends. But how about Momma Mae (?)? I would completely recommend this book!! 💜💜💜

Historia
Mike Rinder’s parents began taking him to their local Scientology center when he was five years old. After high school, he signed a billion-year contract and was admitted into Scientology’s elite inner circle, the Sea Organization. Brought to founder L. Ron Hubbard’s yacht and promised training in Hubbard’s most advanced techniques, Rinder was instead put to work swabbing the decks. Still, Rinder bought into the doctrine that his personal comfort was secondary to the higher purpose of Hubbard’s world-saving mission.

EXPLOSIVE NEW FACTS
Revisado: 11-19-23
I loved this book! I am so glad that Mike read it as well! I feel, for me, it just took it to the next level.
I have read so so many “religious” cult biographies, including a lot of Scientology bios, but there are so many new, specific details of the atrocities and abuses of scientology in this book that I have never heard before. I can’t imagine all the experiences that Mike went through, as I know he couldn’t fit all his years in the cult into this book. I am shocked at how severe the brain washing is, that such a huge number of people stay loyal, even when they have experienced the true mental illness that David Miscavige displays!
I do not know anyone that has ever been in scientology but I am so thankful that Mike, Leah and others have created organizations for the sole purpose of helping members escape, heal and begin new lives thinking for themselves and making their own decisions. Please keep up the loving help for those that need it. I will continue to pray for you all, your families and all who have been affected by this cult.
I am so ready for another book from Mike….or Christy???

FAME ISN’T ALL THAT
Revisado: 11-04-23
If all of this….or even half….happened this way…..shame on her family! Especially her mother! I am a mother of four and I would do anything for my children! They are everything to me! My kids…all grown adults…told me about the whole #free Britney movement when it happened and about the conservatorship(?). Honestly, it didn’t sound like it was that bad. But now that she has spoken!!! It was so much worse!! How could her mother not even just hold her! Sit with her, cry with her, even TALK to her about getting through her mental health needs! What is wrong with these parents! It’s like her mother didn’t actually birth her! How can you straight out NOT care….AND put your child through MORE hell than she is already going through. I just don’t get it. But I do study cults and I can see why Britney thought her father was the leader of one…the way he treated her. The whole thing is absolutely disgusting! I hope she can stop having a relationship with them and stop paying for their life. It is too much for her. She needs to focus on her own mental health and the damage others did to her so that she can be happy. It’s so scary how they were able to just throw her away, hidden, and she had no chance of escape. I will pray for her, her healing and her life with her husband and kids. God Bless you with peace, love, comfort and strength Britney!!

Historia
In 2012, American journalist Theo Padnos, fluent in Arabic, Russian, German, and French, traveled to a Turkish border town to write and report on the Syrian civil war. One afternoon in October, while walking through an olive grove, he met three young Syrians - who turned out to be al Qaeda operatives - and they captured him and kept him prisoner for nearly two years. On his first day, in the first of many prisons, Padnos was given a blindfold - a grime-stained scrap of fabric - that was his only possession throughout his horrific ordeal.

Matthew Schrier was right about Theo
Revisado: 10-13-23
I bought this book because I wanted to hear “the other side/perspective “ after reading The Dawn Prayer by Matt Schrier. I haven’t even finished the first chapter and I have skipped ahead a dozen times. I did not understand that Matt was dead on right when he said Theo would just talk and drone on for hours about nothing. Welcome to chapter one.
This book should be offered for free. I can’t believe I wasted my money.
The Dawn Prayer by Matt is a very good book. I would recommend it. I know bad things happen….and I have read tons of stories about cults, kidnapping, Jared-the Subway pedophile—but what Matt survived, had the will to survive and actually escape from is astonishing. Having the mere guts to attempt to escape, knowing that if you get caught the torture will be a hundred times worse—says so much about his will to live and escape this torture.
Back to this book, I will be skipping ahead to see what Theo has to say about his time with Matt, the help Matt gave him and why Theo continually threw Matt under the bus to benefit Theo! And I am interested in seeing if Theo will talk about his book that got him in this big mess to start with. I believe it was called Undercover Muslim, but I can’t find it….although not sure I would pay money for it…maybe at goodwill. Good luck getting through this book…..that is, unless it makes a complete turnaround after chapter one.

So good. I thought I had heard all things FLDS. Nope. More in this book.
Revisado: 10-01-23
I have read (or listened to) almost every FLDS book I can find. I read escape years ago. Carolyn Jessop, along with every other person, that has escaped from a cult, is so amazing and brave. I actually heard several things in this book that were new to me and that was very exciting. This is a great book and don’t think that if you’ve read escape, this is a repeat. So much in here about the YFZ raid along with what her family went through “after” their escape. It is so good!
