The author rests his premises on the truth and authority of God’s word and invites us to do the same with our very thoughts, words, and deeds. He presents clearly what it means to be a genuine disciple, an apprentice of Jesus Christ. Either we are pursuing this, or we are not. And as the author presents these truths clearly and without compromise, we are left to deal with “..Him to whom we must give account.”

Simple yet profound

It is good to hear that even an Elisabeth Elliott struggled with emotions, anxiety, fear, worry, and! She cast all those emotions on the altar, offered them all back, teaching us, modeling for us, the transfigured life that comes from the sacrifice of obedience. Broken to feed the multitudes. For the glory of God.

Rest in the POWERFUL truth of God’s love

This book was a balm for my soul. As I am most likely in the last third of my life this side of glory, learning that the joy of the Lord grows as I embrace and rest in the truth of His love for me AND that this joy not only diminishes shame, but conquers shame - is a lavish gift from our Good God! He didn’t have to bring me by Now I Become Myself, but He did!!! Oh, that those in close contact w/me as well as all who read this review, would know God’s love and the flourishing of a life where His joy has conquered shame!!!

AW Pink seems to have obeyed the golden rule, loving our God with all his heart, soul, mind, strength AND and loving his neighbor as himself. You must do the same as you read, listen to this powerfully informing gift.! Be challenged to do so! God will strengthen you from the task, enlighten you in the process, and transform, sanctify your heart and mind for his glory

Persevere!!!

AW Tozer is always a challenging read for me, but always worth the effort! In the introduction we are reminded that we are not required to agree with the author on every point, Tozer himself would not want it to be so! This gives the reader the freedom to read, ponder, pray over and consider the truth herein. Challenging, humbling, freeing and edifying through and through! If your soul is not rankled at some point, you may not be interacting with the text I will definitely be listening again! Next time, maybe with a hard copy of the book in front of me as well!

Genuine, heart wrenching, life changing. Kay shares her story of God's call and transforming power in a way that truly makes our invisible God visible! Challenging message ALL who may consider themselves "good Christians" would benefit from reading.
Would personally suggest reading any Bible passages quoted from The Message (only a paraphrase of God's Word) in an actual translation of God's Word - NIV, NASB, ESV, NKJV, KJV, HCSB, NLT and others
