I picked this book because Julia Whelan is the narrator (I just love her voice, interpretation, accents, how she performs men roles and women roles) and also because I had just finished The Women by Kristin Hannah and absolutely loved it…. The Dust Bowl and the Great Depression were not really my top picks in terms of topics that I wanted to explore, but Kristin Hannah outdid herself!!! She brings this distant history to life and makes it better than a movie!!! I finished it in 6 days and I’m craving for more! Thank you also for adding the interviews at the end! I will use this book for my EFL lessons!

Amazing interpretation

Robert Slade is an amazing reader and interpreter. He was able to clearly differentiate each character by changing accent, pace, intonation, and pitch.

Joel Dicker is a great writer. I loved the novel, its intricate mysteries, the constant re-elaboration of facts, and the numerous plot twists, all the way through the end. A book within a book within a book. I was so sorry the book ended. A truly great and entertaining book.

Travolgente e profondo

Un romanzo travolgente sulla natura umana, sul bene e sul male che c’è in ognuno di noi.
Ai primi capitoli di audible, ho comprato il cartaceo per poterlo sottolineare. Ma la voce narrante di Chiara Francese dà ancora più vita al romanzo. Ho ascoltato e letto, letto ed ascoltato più volte molteplici passi. Lo raccomando al 100%!

A light-hearted read! :-)

I teach English as a foreign language to adults, and I picked this book because I found it listed as a good book for intermediate students. I listened to it at first just to see if it would be a good choice for my student, not expecting much, but ended up loving it! I like Poppy and her outlook on life, and I really liked the narrator. I often tell my students to both read the book on paper and listen to it as well. And this audible is just perfect for my student!

A masterpiece of metafiction

I loved the story within the story and the two voices. I loved how the two women are foils to each other but then (spoiler alert) there’s a flip - or is there? Very suspensful. 5 stars!

I finally got a good picture of contemporary India

This book was a revelation to me. I asked an Indian friend of mine to recommend a book about India that would illustrate how the caste system is perceived today. This book did the job brilliantly. It is entertaining, ironic, and full of information. I started with the audiobook (the narration is excellent - I love the accent!) and soon after I bought the paper book because I wanted to underline so many things! I would highly uggest it, even to high school students!!! Thank you Aravind Adiga and Kerry Shale!!!

Fantastic dramatization

I was so enthralled by the dramatization that I want to read the original book now! Thank you BBC for making it so unique, it was like watching a movie! Also, I very much appreciated the interview with the author at the end.

Superb interpretation

Hugh Bonneville's superb interpretation really makes the animals (and the humans) come alive. I would even say it's better than the written text!!! I would highly recommend this to a friend also because it's witty, excentric, exotic, and really puts animals and humans on the same level. Absolutely loved it!

Sono un'assidua lettrice, ma non riuscivo ad andare avanti con il libro cartaceo.
Allora ho comprato il mio primo audiolibro. E la voce di Anna Bonaiuto mi ha trasportata nella storia. Ne sono rimasta assuefatta. Adesso ho appena comprato il secondo libro.
