I recommend this book to anybody, especially anyone trying to gain knowledge / history on Latin America, and wanting to gain knowledge on imperialism of the United States. It’s eye opening, jaw dropping, and absolutely necessary information to know no matter who you are, your background, where you come from, your political preference, etc. The knowledge shared is priceless.

I enjoyed Trevors story of how he grew up in South Africa. It’s a travel in time to grasp what life as a child growing up South Africa while bing half white and half black in the later years of apartheid, learning about how his mother raised him and what a beautiful souls she has, how his dad was a part of his life or how he was a part of his fathers life rather, the troubling times with an abusive (lightly said) step father, and becoming a young man surrounded by a violet society. Sharing many similar experiences growing up, this book hit close to home for me. When so many people would turn towards a different way of life due to the circumstances of growing up in such ways, it’s a testament to mothers that show unconditional love and help their kids grow into beautiful people. Thanks for all you do and the endless inspiration you provide, Trevor. Means a lot to the world.

I’ve listened to this book twice in a row. Growing up around cowboy culture in Northern Nevada and Northern California along with a calling and love for Hawaii I wish the book never ended. It’s inspired me to write a short film that I hope one days comes to production to hep spread the word, help locals, and preserve Hawaiian ranching and cowboy culture.
