Historia
In his landmark best seller The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell redefined how we understand the world around us. Now, in Blink, he revolutionizes the way we understand the world within. Blink is a book about how we think without thinking, about choices that seem to be made in an instant, in the blink of an eye, that actually aren't as simple as they seem. Why are some people brilliant decision makers, while others are consistently inept?

My Review - Good
I really enjoyed this book as it is. From the beginning, it gives you many interesting perspectives to incorporate in how you approach thinking. Our daily lives are full of complex decision making tasks. What I enjoy about this book is the idea of using more intuition inherent knowledge within seconds. It provides tests and examples to build these ideas, which is cool. I can see myself revisiting this many more times for applied practice, give it a try!

My Review - Great
This is a very informative book that guides you through creating and injecting a method of trust that'll invigorate your environment. Covey provides powerful stories of his own life as analogies to help you see the extent of the book's powerful messages. The best part was that as I was going through the book and it's concepts, I saw the opportunities for application in my own life and how I could apply the them myself!I highly recommend this book and would go through this again a few more times as a skim or guide for many more times in the future.

My Review - Okay
This was an experimental purchase to see how helpful it could be. It does offer some helpful tidbits to follow, but honestly I've either heard it all before or was already following a lot of it's proverbs. The narrators voice doesn't help either, it sounds as if it is an AI narrator, if it is, then it's impressive enough, if not AI, it's horribly monotone. I recommend finding a stronger book to delve into for self-discipline.

Book 2 continues the awesome adventures of the animal fighting team that I remember from the old days. The narrator reading for Rachel's point of view was superb. She captures the feeling and thrill of the action and emotions portrayed by the character. The story has an exciting pace and follows a singular event that adds onto the massive alin sci fi story. I love these books and highly recommend for anyone looking for a bitesized piece of fun!

Amazing Series
Revisado: 02-22-25
My Review - Fantastic
This trilogy is exactly the kind of stuff disney would make into a franchise movie or TV series! The amazing intricate work to weave known mythologies into a new one is unrivaled. I was impressed with how the characters are introduced and given just enough background that you recognize them from Greek, Norse, or even fairy tale references, but then we're made complex in their own ways. The action is a whole other beast; the scenes are described in a way that really pulls you in! There are major deaths and big surprises that have you wondering and the pacing keeps you on track as well. I really hope this series gets more love and can be expressed in another medium, highly recommend for the mythology lovers out there!

Good Listen
Revisado: 12-17-24
My Review - Good
This is another one of those books that gives you the subject, then not only tells you the why, but the how as well; i love these. 7 Habits uses unique tidbits of a father and son's interaction to hit home on the nuances of why something like these subjects are truly important. You can effectively apply these to your real life, and see just how it would shape your world a little differently. Yes, if you take the words for the value of the words alone, it can mean little. But if you go a little deeper, and do the how's, you'll be happier for it. Its not too long, so no snoozers here. Honestly, the only thing I'd want to see different is maybe giving stronger examples, but this isnt a necessity though. I highly recommend this read/listen.

Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

Awesomeness
Revisado: 11-22-24
My Review - Fantastic
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It does that really cool thing where it not only gives you the subject, but explains it in different ways. 48 Laws of Power explains the laws, gives you a positive and negative approach, then provides you with an example of each. This is an amazing method in that you gain a direct understanding without all the fluff. The examples pull from different times and regions, while also championing an air of reliability you can appreciate. This is the type of book you can come back to whenever you need a refresh, and be enlightened all over again. There aren't any funny quips or goofy sayings to distract you, because the information you learn throughout will do that for you. Highly recommend.

My Review - Fantastic
What a miraculous and fanatic book. What i love most about this story is the simpleness and balance it offers. Tress, as the main character, leaves a strong sense of curiosity and cleverness that an 18 year would exude. The setting and world are also very digestible and smooth to take. I loved the secondary and extra characters that were used to fill in the world and bolster the characteristics described earlier. The pacing was fine too, where it had me worried at first, but provided a strong structure and in the end was great. Then with all of that, it was just short enough to be fulfilled without overstaying it's welcome. This was a great addition to Sandersons Cosmere, and I highly recommend.

Be bright but do not burn. Embrace the shadows but do not live in the darkness. Those are more than just words; they are truth revealed to only the bravest of souls, those who have the power to change the course of history and rewrite a future otherwise etched into Kingfall's flesh itself. But will good finally overcome the storm of evil brewing in the north? Or will the ancient invaders have their pound of flesh? The answers to these questions may surprise both heroes and villains alike.

Outstanding story and confusion to the series
Revisado: 09-27-24
My Review - Great
What David Estes does well with these books is what Brandon Sanderson does well with his; they are able to juggle a large cast of characters and keep the adventure and tight and strong for readers and listeners to enjoy. I had doubts this story would be able to land the ending in a full conclusive way, but it not only brought all the characters together in a way to make it make sense, but it was a fun wholesome time too! The magic was t too crazy, the threat was threatening, and I loved every character all the way to the end just as well. I highly recommend the Kingfall series to anyone needing a fix after finishing Brandon Sanderson's Csomere work, I promise you won't be diappointed.

Such a great little adventure
Revisado: 06-05-24
My Review - Good
This is a book I actually ready in paperback as a child; somewhere around 8 or 9. Back then, I loved the idea of exploring who the great and powerful wizard, Merlin, was in his early years, and I'd say this book does a great job exploring that in a whimsical way. It explores, also, the darker side of what possibilities magic and responsibility holds in a world like Merlin's. To me, it is the precrusor to young adult books like Harry Potter or Eragon. The characters are interesting yet leave much for resisting then in future passages. The only strike against this story is the shallow sense of magnitude in all areas really; there's just not enough substance in everything to make to fantastic. I still very much enjoyed it though!
