Historia
George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

Open your eyes to what’s going on around us today
Revisado: 09-13-21
It’s hard to believe this book was written so long ago. The examples of how socialism communism destroy society are sobering and relevant to today. Regardless of what political party you’re affiliated with, we should all be united in avoiding that horrible nature of socialism and communism. Our ability to speak freely and I think freely and to examine and question are so important to our country and the world. I sure hope everybody who reads this book uses it as a filter as we hear politicians and the media tell us what is right and what is wrong. Stay skeptical!!

Historia
Booker T. Washington fought his way out of slavery to become an educator, statesman, political shaper, and proponent of the "do-it-yourself" idea. In his autobiography, he describes his early life as a slave on a Virginia plantation, his steady rise during the Civil War, his struggle for education, his schooling at the Hampton Institute, and his years as founder and president of the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, which was devoted to helping minorities learn useful, marketable skills.

A positive and inspiring life story full with timeless wisdom and truth
Revisado: 08-01-20
While the topics around slavery and race can be sensitive today, this historical review of slavery from Mr. Washington’s perspective, is clear, refreshing, informative, inspiring, and life-changing. Bookers life story and example of creating dialogue and understanding how we as a society and as individuals can improve, can be applied generally today. Regardless of race or situation the principles Booker teaches in this book are timeless. A must read for everyone.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Enduring principles buried by profanity and crude distasteful stories
Revisado: 07-23-20
Overall the book had some very motivating concepts. Concepts that everybody should review regularly. The book ends well, sure glad the author ended up being successful in finding himself. It seems like a lot of the stories and examples and language were included to create sensational excitement, but for me it was a bit of a turn off.

Nothing new to me
Revisado: 04-12-17
While many of these ideas are awesome, I didn't find them new. Perhaps that is because I have worked in companies that avoided politics and hiring people who are not focused on results.
For people who are in larger slower or more traditional companies, this book would be insightful.
