Historia
Dominic's world had been a fairly simple life. To live his life to the best of his abilities, gain experience, level up, and strive to enjoy himself as best he could in a backwater. Which, while tough on its own, was made infinitely harder by his father being the local executioner. All of that becomes infinitely worse when his entire family is murdered. Dominic is then thrust into a war between noble houses that had been put on hold for generations. A war that the royal family lost, and now only had one true heir and claimant: Dominic Randolph.

First Arand/Darren book I couldn't finish.
Revisado: 05-08-24
I made it partially through chapter 31 after going through 2 chapters of incel crap, and the feeling that the protagonist would have done necrophilia if he didn't have another person with him judging.
it felt like 30 seconds of moving the story, then 3 minutes of talking about sex, over and over, for 2 chapters. and it's with a woman we have barely met.
I hoped for better.

Isekaied into a level 86 Necromancer-King's body, I leave his life of war behind in favor of peace in the idyllic Borderlands. Upon meeting the elven maiden Narya Summerdew and a razor-toothed half-elven child, the three of us form an unlikely improvised family in the hopes of remaining anonymous. As we embrace the eccentric community of Gelderham, we find happiness in simplicity…But my past casts shadows on our growing bonds. How will Narya react when she learns her new husband was once the evil king set on destroying her people?

This is mainly a romance novel. It is a good listen. The climax of the book is meh/mid. I really enjoyed it regardless.

Historia
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

Exactly what I wanted, some slice of life.
Revisado: 07-11-23
Fantastic little story, greatly narrated. The characters are full fleshed out, and tend to not be one dimensional.
My favorite part, that a lot of books miss on, is leave some of the mystery. We do not need to know how everything works. Leave some stuff to our imagination, just let us know enough to get by. The mystery lets our mind wander and ask questions about this or that, and it really brings more enjoyment and thoughts to it.
Also, I got this because I was looking at books narrated by Travis Baldree. I was extremely surprised when at the start it said it was written by him! He narrates 2 of my favorite Farmer Series, and am glad to see him put a great book out.
This is fun, usually relaxing, and sweet story to listen to.

Historia
Keith has died 12 times. After making a deal with a mysterious immortal, he was sent to a new world in hopes of gaining the offered reward - a chance at a better life with his family. However, Keith failed to realize that this deal did not come with an expiration date, no matter how many times he died. After dying for the dozenth time, Keith renegotiates with the immortal. This new deal will see him sent to the world of Raiah - a world filled with monsters, cowardly monkeys, and a system of magic very similar to the fantasy roleplaying games his brother used to enjoy.

Bad Narration and over explaining.
Revisado: 07-11-23
This could have been a great story. Honestly, it is not a terrible story, it is the narration that makes the bad parts really stand out.
Narration: Female parts where they should be yelling, or in a very intense situation, where urgency is needed, they just whisper. There was a 3 way conversation between the MC, his guide, and a female companion, and I was never able to guess which was the guide, and which was the companion. There is no emotion, the inflections are all wrong. It is hard to listen to.
Story: Most everything is over explained, sometimes overexplained multiple times. If you are reading the kindle version, it might be good for teens or pre-teens to learn the genre. Otherwise it is a slog to get through. Maybe there is some minimum word count that is needed that he had to hit.
The story has a good premise, and some decent parts, but those do not outshine how awful it is to listen to it. I kept listening, hoping it would get past that, like maybe the first half would be system and world building, but it really never stopped.
Characters are a little simple, but not terrible. I feel this book could be better if a lot of the fat is trimmed, and more interesting scenes are input. He was in a city/town, he could have been working with some of the citizens for something, instead of being focused on one small part of the whole place.
Not terrible for a first book, if it is a first book. If there was better narration, I would have probably had a good time. A 3 start story with a 5 star narration is a good time. But a 3 star story with a 1 star narration is a waste. I am glad my time was not wasted as I listen while driving.

Historia
Doc Holyday never expected to be in a new world with a new name, but Lady Luck made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Her deal came with perks; he gained the ability to heal and he could periodically avoid taking damage from any single attack. Lady Luck had assured him that the list of perks would grow over time. The offer also came with a major drawback, however - Doc had to help save the world. While that would be a tall order for anyone, Doc was never one to back down from a challenge.

Historia
John Doc Henry had been on the shortest, crappiest end of the stick since the first day of his life; no parents, bad foster parents, and abysmal luck at every turn. The day his life changed started out exactly like he had come to expect. His car died on a rarely traveled road, and he broke his toe shortly after dodging the one other car on the road. When it stopped and backed up to him, the license plate read “LADYLUK”, adding insult to injury.

They call me mad, but I don’t see anything wrong with using science to create the perfect monster girl. They call me insane, but I just want to live my life with a harem of beautiful cat-girls, bear-girls, fox-girls, snake-girls, and...well, pretty much any type of monster girl. They call me a megalomaniac, but why wouldn’t any red blooded man want to make cute babies with all these beautiful monster girls? They call me evil, but they just don’t realize that I’d destroy anyone who tries to harm my monster girls.

This is Incel Porn
Revisado: 06-11-20
The voice acting is pretty good, although I agree with some of the other reviews, that the inflections and tones could have been done better to be less grating. But overall this is just Incel Porn.
The Characters fall into 3 categories so far.
Main Character: Is a mentally strong man who reviles women for their evil ways and is a scientist that is also a fabricator at the same time somehow.
Antagonistic Women: Straight Matriarchal females, who somewhat smart, and 1 dimensional evil.
Female Heroines: Smart or dumb(Literally doing the dumbest shit during inopportune times that changes nothing, just annoying) and completely devoted to the Main character, willing to serve hand and foot. Also the smart one is still a simpleton.
I listened to the whole thing, so I will not refund it, but will not be buying the next one.
This is the 2nd series I have tried from Eric Vall, the other being 2 books from the Summoner Series, They are all very simple in tone. Almost no depth or forethought in the writing.
If you do like this style, but prefer more fleshed out characters and plot, give Logan Jacobs a try. I am not a fan of most of his work, but Skullduggery is very well done so far.

It’s been three weeks since Jacob Merely crash-landed on the mythical island of Lycastia, and the newly minted War God finally has things under control. He’s grown into his power, built his city, and earned the respect of his gorgeous, hard-charging amazons. He’s not in the clear yet, though. Hades still lives, and the mystical sigil holding him at bay is rapidly failing. Worse, a horde of new enemies is battering Lycastia’s gates daily, slowly grinding down Jacob’s forces. Just not a fan.
Revisado: 09-14-18
I am not exactly sure why I dislike this book.
Could be The narrator's voice and his inability to convey emotions well. Maybe it is the predictable storyline with "surprises" easily seen coming.
There is a gamer who does not think like a gamer, and a necro whose character seems to be made by someone who never dealt with a real bully, and just decided to make him over the top dumb and evil.
I got the 2nd book because I thought it might improve.
I was wrong.
