Excessive spell chanting, excellent world building, with few spells, memorable characters, amusing & fitting ending
Revisado: 02-16-23
First loved the sound effects. I can understand why everyone is complaining as it’s strictly targeted to spell casting. Problem is the princess does not know many spells and so get a long chant cast time over and over again. It’s great in begining. Then it becomes annoying regardless of how creative the spell was used. We do get one guy who uses a different Element once and it sounds great. But for some reason his spell chant is half skipped and it still sounds good.
as for story it’s solid and characters are memorable. I do wish we got more banter between the main character team without princess present. I’m a bit disappointed in how red hair down roein character developed. He’s good. But I guess I expected him act more like a bard. politics world-building wasn’t overwhelming and was interesting. Also good and professional to see and listen to an author that puts time into world-building that improves the story as opposed to winging it which seems to be more and more common with audiobooks.

Historia
The Ouroboros Project was my last chance at salvation, but the new, virtual reality was just as bad as the world I’d left. Backroom deals with corrupt nobles, slavery, and murder were all swept under the rug in the pursuit of gold. Despite everything, I found mercenary life fulfilling, until my guild was attacked. Now, I've got unknown, extremely rich enemies on all sides, a mysterious woman with strange magic and compound eyes, and a guild to save.

unexpected ending
Revisado: 09-01-22
all hail the summoner eliminating 400 players over 2,000 npcs. how in the hell is he weaker then his sister. utter nonsense. my only grips is I would have like more story regarding the gods given that are attainable mantels. I'm kinda confuses my bug queen with her final choice. Seemed kinda pointless. personally I would have waited longer instead of entrusting it to an ai who since the start of VR space had no counter measures for an eventuality that should been expected day one. what happened to the outside team and the director. As a programmer and industry game dev I would have made at last 15 back up farms to port into the second that corruption happen espesually in case of not being able to log out. There are holes. but story is decent.

Amazing worldbuilding with some flaws
Revisado: 07-02-21
A great story with good pacing, that pulls you in with memorable characters such as the grandma and has a somewhat deep worldbuilding aspect. However, their are a few annoying flaws.
Now this two in one book is excellent and I don't regret my purchase. However, my biggest complaint is that I personally hate it when topics or locations are brought up but never explained. This story has two characters with main character group whom are from two seperate races and the story constantly reminds of that fact. You learn that people in this nation are shocked to see them walking around with mc just because of race. The mc never goes into detail as to why and is completely oblivious to history and politics of other nations. It also stops being cute after a while when the race is treated as permanent name of the main characters. It drifts back and forth even at the end with mc calling other mc characters be their first name or race name and its a bit odd.
The other thing that annoyed me is that after listening to the deep political worldbulding and the unique goverment body's evil acts. It strikes me as odd that the college student lead character has been affiliated with a terrorist resistance group since childhood and has no idea who resistance leaders are or who the goverment leaders are. The mc does not know the goverment organization structure or what military factions the goverment has at its disposal.

Overlooked cultural issues. But excellent overall
Revisado: 02-25-21
should have added a roaring standing applause as they left at the end of book by the public.
my only annoyance is that all the issues the three houses/tribes were faceing were all agriculture issues and despute between each other was more or less voided. i expected more social issues class repairs.

Worldbuilding is pratically non-existant.
Revisado: 02-05-21
It's a decent short story. I wish I learned more about the mysterious organization the MC was trying to get into and why because you learn next to nothing about them, who the leaders are, what they have been doing that sparked mc's interest and conviction to join. It feels less like a major elite organization and more like a small-scale movement with a bar of entry and notable people who also aren't mentioned. As for the MC, I can't tell if the character is changing because of genuine desire or if they are doing so because they want the girl and power. The MC question's the clear clarity of the org ideology and rules every time an order is given down.

Historia
Sebastian Frost was a man with an interesting reputation. He’d killed 12 giants, eight heroes, a duke, and even a prince. But nobody ever talked about any of that. All they talked about was the deviant, disgusting, detestable Herald of Shalia that shamelessly laid with elves. That was because in the strange world based on game mechanics Frost found himself in, laying with elves was somehow treated like laying with animals. Naturally, they weren’t calling him Herald Frost the giant killer....

Disturbingly well written world and characters
Revisado: 01-02-21
As slade put it..
"Frost dosen't care what his goddess thinks and it's his most a redeeming trait!"
Now, while the story pacing is great and natural. I find the H-scenes to be a bit annoying despite the quality depth, occasional humor and character development. The reason has to do with length of each H-scene taking up whole chapters and then half of next chapter. Its annoying enough that I find myself fast forwording to progress the world story and returning to check later for any important plot point snippits in H-scenes or for the scene itself.
This type of story is one of those hit or miss and it seems its one of those unexpected gems. I look forword to next book!

Decent Aftermath. But, unexpected story...
Revisado: 10-21-20
The voice actor is excellent at voicing trolls and bad a voicing every other race except maybe jaina. The tauren where painfull to hear.
The story was unexpected to the point I think the title shouldn't be called shadowlands. But instead should be called Talanji. A good eighty percent is basically about her, the state of zandalar and how bad she is at being at being a new leader. The rest is basically a flood of diplomatic meetings from the horde point of view and anduin having a breakdown moment as usual.
The only part that has anything to do with shadowlands comes at the end and it's not fully explained explained as to why the loa was underattack and its not as thou that specific lowa is all that powerfull. But, I suppose its the only thing left to talk about outside of death knights and necromancers. I don't see why sylvanus views him as a threat since he mostly only interested in troll souls.
That aside, very little if anything is learned about shadowlands. So, while this is a decent aftermath to the main quest. The title is extremely unfitting regarding the covered topics.
The biggest thing that caught me offguard was the amount of emotion and attempts of mental self redemption spewing out of maiev's mouth.
The best part of story was everything surrounding spymaster mathias shaw.
