Historia
Mackenzie "Mack" Dalton is a Milwaukee bar owner with a nose for trouble - literally. A neurological glitch has left her with extra-perceptive senses. So when she stumbles upon a dead body in the alley behind the bar - the same spot where her own father was shot eight months earlier - she can tell right away there's something fishy in the air. The lead detective thinks there's a link between the two deaths, and he'll need Mack's help to sniff out the murderer. But when all the evidence points to her as the most likely culprit, it could be an early last call for Mack.

Historia
Aurora De La Torre, or Ora to her friends, knows moving back to Pagosa Springs, Colorado, a place that was once home and is now full of bittersweet memories of her late mother, isn’t going to be easy. Starting your whole life over probably isn’t supposed to be. But after breaking up with her longtime famous musician boyfriend, hiding out in a small town in the mountains might be the perfect remedy for a broken heart. And checking out her landlord who lives across the driveway just might cure it, too. Only Tobias Rhodes didn’t rent out the apartment to her, rather it was his teenage son, Amos.

Sebastian York Drop In Narration --
Revisado: 01-30-25
This was a good book, but I was expecting some sort of dramatic something to occur (judging by how long it is), but that dramatic climax "bit" was a little anti-climatic. I'm a huge Amanda Ronconi fan, so I enjoyed her narration. I love Sebastian York but am EXTREMELY disappointed in his part of this book. I can picture him in his home recording studio recording his responsive portions, all using the same tone (except for the entrance at the beginning) throughout. Amanda was there, in those moments, feeling the story and relaying it in the best way she knows how. Sebastian's narration was just reactive and not very emotive either. I'm left wanting more from his part and sorry he didn't feel this book was worth more of his time. I am actively looking for the first book with the original narrators and I've read they were both very, very good.

Historia
My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

I loved this book - but .....
Revisado: 11-28-24
This book kept me on the leash from the very beginning. They way the story unfolded and how it was told was just great. The narrators were all very, very good. I do want to point out one HUGE disappointment (for me) about this book. The ending, while intriguing, was unfulfilling and left much to be desired. I sort of, (I guess) get the why of it (but maybe not for sure), but it was almost as if the author could not find a way to tie it up in a way that would leave the reader fulfilled and instead went in a direction that left me 1) shocked; and, 2) less than satisfied with the story's ending. I know this book was just released on the 21st of November, so I'll be waiting and interested in reading other readers' reviews. I will read more of her books, but hope the be fulfilled at the end.

Andi and Jason - What Can I Say ???
Revisado: 12-07-23
You know it's a winner when these two are the narrators, and I generally have no criticism of either one, but in this one book, just one small one. Jason sounds SO sinister all the time, except maybe once or twice. I LOVE Jason Clarke -- and almost all of his performances are just terrific but in this one, he sounds really, really dark. Otherwise, I loved the story!!

This was too great a book for the abrupt ending
Revisado: 08-21-23
This is such a great story, so involved and detailed that ending fell so, so short and less worthy than the story. I was hoping that it would be continued in another book --- the search for the child and the rocky relationship between India and her James Lesley, but it was wrapped up in a less than flattering bundle that was not worthy of the book itself. Justine Eyre was absolutely wonderful in all her voices, female and male, and all her accents, but I strongly feel the ending was such a let down. Pity, it could have been so much more.

This Would Have Been A Much Better Book If ---
Revisado: 06-14-23
It had a better ending. It just, sort of, ended. There were details left out that would have made the ending better. I wish, wish, wish it had a better ending. I'm a huge Bianca Amato fan so I really enjoyed the book. I'm not a fan of Ell Potter as well, but this book --- SHEESH!! I know I sounds like a recording, but I wish it had a better ending.

An Hour From The End of This Book ------
Revisado: 06-05-23
This could have been a really good book. I feel like they just wanted a reason to get the characters to the "having sex" stage because they moved there awfully quick. She just moved back to town, they have known each other for a long time, but she would never date him because of his wants for the future, and all of a quick sudden they are having sex and talking about being together forever. Ummm, yeah, right. And, it is very unbelievable to me that a man from a family such as his would so easily agree to no children (that may change -- I'm a few chapters away from the epilogue), plus her reason for not wanting children is just stupid. It could have been a much better book but for me, it seriously missed the mark. I did enjoy the narrators. I've always like Samantha Brentmoor but just discovered Ryan West and I LOVE him!!

Just One Major Complaint --
Revisado: 06-03-23
This was cute, intelligent story. I liked the lead female character very much as she was smart, sassy and courageous. I'm so tired of reading women who are so insecure, whiney and feeble. My only complaint -- and the ladies will understand is that this book should not be listed as Narrated by: Fiona Fischer, Jacob Morgan but rather "Narrated by Fiona Fischer with very little snippets of Jacob Morgan." That would have been more honest regarding details of this book. The one positive is that the second epilogue is narrated by Jacob and it's almost 30 minutes, so that was good.

I Was Enjoying This Book Until .....
Revisado: 12-27-22
I reached the mid-20's chapter. Why did Ms. Jimenez have to write Sloane as a quivering, crying, insecure baby!! This was going so well, and I understand that there had to be some sort of drama (because even though I'm only at Chapter 23, there is sure to be even more drama) but having the female character react so insecurely and, in fact, whiny, is disappointing. I am happy to see that Erin Mallon has controlled the dragging out of the last words she speaks as she has done so in the past - this is better and, Zachary Webber -- well, what can you say about Zachary Webber? He is ALWAYS terrific. It feels like he IS the character he is narrating and I don't pass up any of his books.
Now I have to get through this awful section with Sloane and her whinny, crybaby, insecure self. Oh well ....
