Historia
George Orwell's timeless and timely allegorical novel - a scathing satire on a downtrodden society's blind march towards totalitarianism. The book tells the story of a group of farm animals who rebel against their human farmer, hoping to create a society where the animals can be equal, free, and happy. Ultimately, however, the rebellion is betrayed, and the farm ends up in a state as bad as it was before, under the dictatorship of a pig named Napoleon.

Great book, poor narrator
Revisado: 11-18-21
There were portions of the narration that you could tell were supposed to be taken out. For example, the narrator testing out the pronunciation of a word, or re reading a sentence or even a whole paragraph with different tonal inflections or errors. Nonetheless, it's still worth The lesson.

Historia
Ordinary Men is the true story of Reserve Police Battalion 101 of the German Order Police, which was responsible for mass shootings as well as round-ups of Jewish people for deportation to Nazi death camps in Poland in 1942. Browning argues that most of the men of RPB 101 were not fanatical Nazis but, rather, ordinary middle-aged, working-class men who committed these atrocities out of a mixture of motives, including the group dynamics of conformity, deference to authority, role adaptation, and the altering of moral norms to justify their actions.

Intellectual must read
Revisado: 10-19-21
The verbiage is very intellectual but precise. Because of this the book feels dry. The dryness is unfortunate because I wish this book held interest enough to hold anyone's interest because everyone should read this book. However, the analytical nature is important to understand what happened in the minds of the perpetrators of history. I hope that we can continue to learn from them.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Love everything about this book
Revisado: 05-29-21
Weir is an amazing author. After the immense detail in "The Martian" I read this expecting the same level of detail and I was not disappointed. The science research is excellent. Weir's ability to incrementally introduce something outlandishly bizarre leaves the reader feeling as though the story is plausible! Fantastic read. I somehow missed Artemis but that's next on the list!

Historia
In Three Felonies a Day, Harvey A. Silverglate reveals how federal criminal laws have become dangerously disconnected from the English common law tradition and how prosecutors can pin arguable federal crimes on any one of us, for even the most seemingly innocuous behavior. The volume of federal crimes in recent decades has increased well beyond the statute books and into the morass of the Code of Federal Regulations, handing federal prosecutors an additional trove of vague and exceedingly complex and technical prohibitions to stick on their hapless targets.

Reader is super dry
Revisado: 05-20-21
This book was recommended by a friend of mine who serves as a field agent for the FBI. I was very excited to listen to it and the subject matter interstate me greatly. Imagine my horror when I discovered the reader sounded like he was a newscaster reading titles, adding tonal inflections for dramatic affect instead of speaking normally. It completely ruined the book and my ability to focus on it, my mind often wandering. I gave it about 2 solid hours but had to return it.

What does everyone in the modern world need to know? Renowned psychologist Jordan B. Peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research. Humorous, surprising, and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Outstanding
Revisado: 09-13-18
This book is absolutely outstanding. I consider myself slightly above average for scientific knowledge but I was not only able to keep up with, but also verify the validity of much of the problem solving used in this book. albeit the author had the privilege of taking liberties while still keeping it within the real of reality due to the fact that we at close to, but not able to, send humans to mars in this stage of humanity. The story gripped me start to finish and the suspense was well balanced with nerd brain food throughout.

Find other financial books
Revisado: 01-22-18
The information in this book regarding credit and debt is accurate, but a terrible approach to finance. If you only read one book, this is well rounded, but I recommend starting with books like "The millionaire next door" or "The richest man in Babylon."
