Historia
All sorcerers are evil. Elisabeth has known that as long as she has known anything. Raised as a foundling in one of Austermeer’s Great Libraries, Elisabeth has grown up among the tools of sorcery - magical grimoires that whisper on shelves and rattle beneath iron chains. If provoked, they transform into grotesque monsters of ink and leather. She hopes to become a warden, charged with protecting the kingdom from their power. Then an act of sabotage releases the library’s most dangerous grimoire.

loved this!

I was listening to this on a car ride and was suprised by how captivated I was. I loved the representation and I loved how you could see real life problems in this book. Most of all I loved the character development and how the book shows the nuances between good and evil. Will definitely read the authors other books.

Historia
This movie tie-in edition of the acclaimed debut novel by Uzodinma Iweala tells the unforgettable story of the life of a child soldier in a war-torn African country. Agu, a young boy in an unnamed West African nation, is recruited into a unit of guerrilla fighters as civil war engulfs his country. Haunted by his father's own death at the hands of militants, Agu is vulnerable to the dangerous yet paternal nature of his new commander. While the war rages on, Agu becomes increasingly divorced from the life he had known before the conflict started.

Much better than reading.

It was hard to read due to the writers purposeful bad grammar, punctuation, and English. Listening to it made it much more enjoyable and immersible.
