Great voice with clear ideas

This was my first audiobook on self-compassion (and mindfulness) and it was excellent. I enjoyed the way she delivered each chapter as a class. Listening to it during my commute was good, until I would reach the meditation at the end of the chapters. Some of them were conducive to doing in the car but some others were not and I had to pause and wait until I got home. Regardless it really made me stop and think and also led to some emotional/mental break through moments.

What’s in a label? Are we the product of our upbringing or do we have a natural propensity towards good or evil? The eternal question of nature vs nurture is at the centre of Dr Diane Buckley’s world. A talented freelance forensic psychologist who has never quite found the key to engaging with people on a casual level, she is drafted in to examine a grisly murder – a body found in a children’s playground.

A Great Audible Original
Revisado: 02-21-19
Listening to this, as a millennial, made me wonder if this was the allure families felt back before television existed. Although the story was simple ("mystery" novels are not usually my kind of genre and I find most too formulaic) the performance of all the actors and the mood music was stimulating and I found myself pleasantly engaged (even if I rolled my eyes once or twice). I came close to guessing the ending, just close. It was fun.

Historia
From the celebrated author of The Secret Life of Bees, a magnificent novel about two unforgettable American women. Writing at the height of her narrative and imaginative gifts, Sue Monk Kidd presents a masterpiece of hope, daring, the quest for freedom, and the desire to have a voice in the world - and it is now the newest Oprah’s Book Club 2.0 selection. Hetty “Handful” Grimke, an urban slave in early nineteenth century Charleston, yearns for life beyond the suffocating walls that enclose her within the wealthy Grimke household. The Grimke’s daughter, Sarah, has known from an early age she is meant to do something large in the world, but she is hemmed in by the limits imposed on women.

Audiobook is the way to go with this one

Loved to hear the stories told in two different voices and performed so well. I don't usually gravitate to historical fiction but this one seemed different and in the end I was sad that it was over.

Historia
Meet Roy Ballard, freelance videographer with a knack for catching insurance cheats. He's working a routine case, complete with hours of tedious surveillance, when he sees something that shakes him to the core. There, with the subject, is a little blond girl wearing a pink top and denim shorts - the same outfit worn by Tracy Turner, a six-year-old abducted the day before. When the police are skeptical of Ballard's report - and with his history, who can blame them? - it's the beginning of the most important case of his life.

Easy to listen to during the commute.
Revisado: 06-18-16
It doesn't have much depth to it, not something that makes me ponder the mysteries of life or anything, but its fast paced and witty and as an audiobook that I listen to during my commute, it was exactly as needed. I can still concentrate on driving, fill in any context I missed usually by just listening to whats next and most importantly I can wlmost eagerly look forward to what is otherwise a torturous drive.
