Loved it! Suspense all the way through. I got lost toward the end and had to backtrack but enjoyed it.

After a traffic stop turns violent at the hands of the police, a young Black teen grapples with racism—and what it means for his future. Justyce is a good kid, an honor student, and always there to help a friend—but none of that matters to the police officer who just put him in handcuffs without cause. When faced with injustice, Justyce looks to the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for answers. But do they hold up anymore?

All teachers of autistic students should be required to read this. Actually, all humans who interact with strangers should read it as well. Nicely done.

Historia
Lily needs a ride—a fire warning in Oregon has cancelled her train home to California. Her ex-best friend, Natasha, has offered to pick Lily up on her way back from Portland, though they're barely on speaking terms. As it turns out, Natasha's also giving a ride to Elke Azizi, the girl Lily got expelled from their school four years ago. Elke hasn't forgotten, and neither has Natasha. It's getting tense in the car, and it's not just about the past. There's smoke in the air, and with the wildfires nearby, staying on the road is becoming riskier by the hour.

Keely Parrack did it again. 10 Hours to Go is a thriller with a sweet spot. Her characters are funny, enticing and real. I will definitely always “detour for doughnuts.”

Historia
Half-hidden by forest and overshadowed by threatening peaks, Le Sommet has always been a sinister place. Long plagued by troubling rumors, the former abandoned sanatorium has since been renovated into a five-star minimalist hotel. An imposing, isolated getaway spot high up in the Swiss Alps is the last place Elin Warner wants to be. But Elin's taken time off from her job as a detective, so when her estranged brother, Isaac, and his fiancée, Laure, invite her to celebrate their engagement at the hotel, Elin really has no reason not to accept.

Setting Excellent
Revisado: 06-16-23
Pearce creates a wonderfully cold setting that makes you want to stay in the Sanatorium; however, the narrator, an out of work detective, isn't exactly reliable. She questions herself and allows others to question her throughout the entire novel. That desire to find out why I keep the reader going, but in the end, there is no real reliable answer. However, still a fun read.

Historia
It was supposed to be just one night in the cabin: one night for Lottie and her brand new stepsister, Jade, to try to get along. When a solar flare causes a massive blackout—no power or cell signal—Lottie knows they've got a long night ahead of them. Then, in the dark, someone else shows up at the cabin—a stranger named Alex, claiming to be lost and needing shelter from the coming snowstorm. But later that night, Lottie spies him in the driveway talking to two mysterious men in a pickup truck, and she's sure he's lying about why he's here.

Beautifully Written Fun YA
Revisado: 11-05-22
Lottie and Jade are a fun pair to ride out a blizzard in Tahoe with. Lottie is a strong protagonist who isn’t keen on family. When she’s forced to stay in a cabin in the woods with her new step-sister, who too isn’t very excited about having a new sibling, the girls are forced to put aside their differences in order to survive a harrowing storm, a stranger, and a couple of men who would like to see them dead. Don’t Let in the Cold is a perfect book to read if you like storms, cabins, and danger.
