Historia
While sportswriters rushed into Major League Baseball locker rooms to talk with players, MLB Commissioner Bowie Kuhn barred the lone woman from entering along with them. That reporter, twenty-six-year-old Sports Illustrated reporter Melissa Ludtke, charged Kuhn with gender discrimination, and after the lawyers argued Ludtke v. Kuhn in federal court, she won. Her 1978 groundbreaking case affirmed her equal rights, and the judge's order opened the doors for several generations of women to be hired in sports media.

Excellent narrative of a landmark case
Revisado: 10-06-24
This book is extremely well written. I loved it.
It's a shame neither the narrator nor the sound editor checked the pronunciation of Bowie Kuhn's name.
Excellent book by Melissa Ludtke. Highly recommended.

Poor audio volume
Revisado: 09-23-22
Loved the story. Loved the reader. But the reader tended to murmur. Effective and appropriate for the characters, but I found myself blasting my car audio to hear the book.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Terrific space adventure story
Revisado: 01-24-15
I am not a science fiction reader. This book is pretty science heavy. However it is also a terrific adventure/disaster plot with an engaging and humorous protagonist.

Historia
The Passage of Power follows Lyndon Johnson through both the most frustrating and the most triumphant periods of his career - 1958 to 1964. It is a time that would see him trade the extraordinary power he had created for himself as Senate Majority Leader for what became the wretched powerlessness of a Vice President in an administration that disdained and distrusted him. Yet it was, as well, the time in which the presidency, the goal he had always pursued, would be thrust upon him in the moment it took an assassin’s bullet to reach its mark.

Fascinating chapter in the political caree of LBJ
Revisado: 08-26-12
This book covers the end of Johnson's career as Senate Majority leader, his failed run for the presidency, Johnson's vice-presidency & his transition post-assassination to the presidency.
Johnson was a very complicated man - corrupt, pragmatic, a bully, a brilliant strategist, and ultimately the individual responsible for some of the greatest civil rights & social service legislation this country has ever seen.
The author takes you through an incredibly turbulent period in LBJ's career and makes you care so much about this man who is easy to loathe at times.
Grover Gardiner is excellent as a reader - great performance.
