Historia
Students are spooked at the San Francisco School of Fine Arts, and Lily is called in to search for possible paranormal activity. In return she's been promised a trunkful of Victorian-era clothes recently discovered in a school storage closet. But Lily finds something else: the body of a wealthy patron of the school. In between running the store and seeing her new boyfriend, Max - a "mythbuster" who is uncomfortable with her witchcraft - she uses her sleuthing skills to try to solve the murder. Soon Lily senses something from the school's vintage clothes, but it's not the smell of mothballs - it's the unmistakable aura of evil intent.

Narrator ruins a good cozy mystery: Probably.
Revisado: 08-19-15
What disappointed you about A Cast-Off Coven?
Cannot listen to this narrator any more!! Books MAY be okay but can't tell through the obnoxiously breathy, humorless narration.
Any additional comments?
Why, why, why why, would you keep using this same narrator for all 7 books????? She saps every scrap of humor from this book. Her style brings vividly to mind the late night phone commercials.....................

Good Story Smothered by Wet Blanket Narration!
Revisado: 08-22-13
What did you love best about Secondhand Spirits?
All of the characters were given enough life to make them interesting and left with enough mystery to compel you to find out more.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Det. Romero: I like cold, hard characters with Dudley Dooright at the core. I enjoy getting the glimpses of humanity as his backstory is slowly revealed bit by bit. Again, this makes me want to read the next in the series.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
She sucked every bit of humor out of this book! She read it like she was doing a late-night 900 commercial. It was like listening to a Southern adolescent practicing her femme fatale voice for 8 hours and not listening to a word she was saying. It was so irritating that if she narrates more in the series, I will just download the kindle versions.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not quite but definitely once you got past half-way you wanted to listen through to the conclusion.

Narrator is a Ham!
Revisado: 03-06-13
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It was okay but I was consistently annoyed by the narration. The voice changes are great but she is so over-dramatic that I kept getting distracted from the story. The story is fairly interesting - entertaining as it should be but I found whiny/crying voice of the lead character joltingly out of place.
Would you recommend Great Hexpectations to your friends? Why or why not?
As a written work, yes but the narrator just ruins the audio version.
What didn’t you like about Therese Plummer’s performance?
She overacts enormously. Some inflection is appreciated but this is not a radio drama. Her inflections are jarringly misplaced and she over annunciates to a grating degree.
Could you see Great Hexpectations being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Not really - material not quite original enough.
