It's not the crime it's the accusation

Overall I loved the story. I picked this book because I thought it was set in a place that feels familiar to me having read several other Wendy Webb ( what a great name!) books. But this book takes us to Italy. Love that link.
I did get confused sometimes bouncing back and forth in time with the old family and modern family characters names.
Other than that a good listen . Xe always does a great job.!

I had forgotten or never knew most of what Maureen covered in this book. And like passing a car accident- though it disgusted me so much I kept wanting it to be done- I couldn't not stop listening. At times though it was hard to follow.

I love these stories. But sometimes I think Brandon Sanderson likes to create his tales just so he can drop pearls of wisdom to the reader.... like you don't have to be funny to be a clown.

I imagined it so differently!!

When I finished The Spaceship Next Door and The Frequency of Aliens for the fourth time I so hoped Gene would continue this story. I'm totally invested in the characters- they feel like old friends.
This was not the story I expected - but oddly, I'm not disappointed.
Steve Carlson does a fantastic job -as always!

Mostly, those of us who have reached the wonderful age of 60s accept our lives as having turned out largely as we thought they would. Knowing that journey was based on our choices and our own actions. Ms Davis has given us a cautionary tale of reaction .... Can any of us truly look back and not wonder " what if? "

We tend to live in the here and now not linked with those people who came before us. But memoirs and books like A Venetian Affair remind us that for millennia lovers have been falling love, parents have been raising children and societies, to some large degree, shape our existence. I'm so glad the end was not the end for Justinia and Andreas. Thanks to your father for compiling the history with so much determination and to you for bringing us a lovely story.
