Great Bits of History
Revisado: 04-29-25
I’m not big on anthologies, but I have to say this was perfect bite-size stories filled with adventure and detail. I know it’s not a long review but in my “non-spoiler” style I can say each story was captivating. I grew up with the old West. My grandmother loved Louis l’Amour and love to watch country shows and movies on TV so this was a bit of homage to that. I think she would’ve really enjoyed this book.

Audrey Cameron has lost her spark. But after getting dumped by her first love and waitlisted at her dream art school all in one week, she has no intention of putting her heart on the line again to get it back. So when local curmudgeon Mr. Montgomery walks into her family’s Pittsburgh convenience store saying he can help her, Audrey doesn’t know what she’s expecting…but it’s definitely not that she’ll be transported back to 1812 to become a Regency romance heroine.

And then …
Revisado: 04-24-25
OK, no judgment here and in one of my famous “no spoiler” style reviews I say to you…
yes I love the movie dude where’s my car? In the movie there’s this point where they go up to a Chinese restaurant drive through and all the Chinese restaurant machine says back to them is “and then…” and at the end of the book I found myself saying and then… Looking for the sequel or the series or some other place for this to jump into.
I will say that this book was exceedingly well written I enjoyed it from start to finish and despite my “and then…” Feeling at the end, that’s a tribute to the writer and the story. I started the book in the morning and was finished by afternoon and that doesn’t happen often for me. So while there’s no “and then…” It’s a truly enjoyable story about first love or finding your true love.

Wonderfully Engaging
Revisado: 04-24-25
At first, I struggled a bit with the translation, but once I got over that and just let go, each story within the book is a joy and delight.
In a no-spoilers review the very ending still leaves you scratching your head a bit but in a good way. I’d recommend this book/listen to anyone that wants a soft relaxing break. I laughed out loud so much I woke my sleeping wife next to me ;) the narration is so great that I want to make the meows into a ring tone!

Temper Tantrums + Panic Attacks
Revisado: 04-22-25
Remember that TV show “how to get away with murder”? The last book in the series reminded me a lot of that television show and has a lot of surprising twist which makes the series enjoyable things happen that you never see coming. Let’s all remember I’m a no spoiler gal so I can’t really say anything. I will say that the book does connect the dots and you do sit there with your mouth open for a bit going. “Wow, I didn’t see that coming.” but then there’s a point that the book takes a turn and maybe you just get a headache and you suddenly feel yourself dealing with teenage angst and wanting to slap the main character or maybe bang your head on the wall. I don’t want to discourage anyone from reading or listening to the book. The narration is superb. The writing is not bad. The story is good just at times rushed or maybe a little bit of ADHD.

Pip is not a detective anymore. With the help of Ravi Singh, she released a true-crime podcast about the murder case they solved together last year. The podcast has gone viral, yet Pip insists her investigating days are behind her. But she will have to break that promise when someone she knows goes missing. Jamie Reynolds has disappeared, on the very same night the town hosted a memorial for the sixth-year anniversary of the deaths of Andie Bell and Sal Singh.

Last Summer Veronica Mars met Pretty Little Liars
Revisado: 03-25-25
In a no spoilers review the book grips you from the start and has a great catch for how the story unfolds. It is definitely a I know what you did last summer meets Veronica Mars with some Pretty Little Liars thrown in. It ties together well and ends leaving me wondering how there are any more books in the series - guess we shall see.

We tend to suck!
Revisado: 02-19-25
People are awful. Children are worse. It seems that the more we “grow” as a society the more we loose.
The book is very well narrated from audible - the way it is recorded - a wee bit cheaply lends to its authenticity, it sucks you in, hence my finishing it in one day, not my usual.
In my “no spoilers gal” way I’ll say it’s got some nice twists and turns and maybe some kids you will wanna smack or put on some serious restriction.

A bit lacking
Revisado: 02-18-25
I had hoped for more. It starts with bickering sisters. Doesn’t really touch on their cranky relationship and then slaps its way through a murder that leaves you saying “what”. I had hoped this would be the start of a new series for me but nope.

Truly Enjoyable
It just kind of sweeps you away. It’s one of those stories where if you were my friend experiencing this I’d most likely smack you on the head and scream “setup” at you but even then in a no spoilers gal way I’ll just say the twists and turns keep you going. It was a slow start for me as I had never red this author before and then poof like a water slide in the heat of summer I consumed most of the book in one afternoon and finished it up on a Sunday morning. A great listen folks - a true what would you do?

Great Quick Read
Revisado: 02-07-25
A witty adventure. A quick read - could be or have been a series along the line of Jane Jameson books. Werewolves are a different take and sure seem to have complicated lives. I do like the intimacy with her family/sister. It’s not much of a review but to say it’s worth a quick Saturday read.
