Normally I really like Bruce's books. This series is just not for me, the mc is just too annoying. the puns have just gotten really old, 0 character growth in all these books.

Historia
Many years and even more levels have passed since Jake and friends entered Nevermore. With quite a number of floors passed, they turn their attention to the Challenge Dungeons. These Challenge Dungeons offer – as the name suggests – unique challenges and circumstances, and completing them will earn each Nevermore competitor points and multipliers to their existing points. As things unfold, it quickly becomes clear it’s through these dungeons that the true top-scorer of the Nevermore Leaderboards will be found.

you can skip this one
Revisado: 03-10-25
I love this series but this one was not very good. I am biased because I just can't stand dungeon delvers. There are only 2 real plot points that progress the story and after that it's just boring. The interludes were the best part while the Jake story line was just filler. The author stretched out the story by making Jake (a character who's been established not to care much about anything other than his own progress) suddenly care more about true blue NPCs than he does actual people. I just find it inconsistent with the character and frankly boring. I skipped most of the beggining and most of the ending just because it's so repetitive and non progressive to the story. Felt like the author lost the plot on this one.

Throughout his entire life, Nate has been considered a cripple and an inconvenience, solely for being born without the precious magic for which the Great Arcane Families were both respected and feared. Being powerless as he was, he couldn’t fight back when choosing to do the right thing was rewarded with even more injustice from old men on even older thrones.

the story was actually really good... until the last few chapters. It really took a nose dive, the MC went from a normal dude to a real A-hole fast. like a complete 180 from how he was in the rest of the book with zero reason or explanation. I was ready for a five star on this one but the last few hours of the book really took a turn south. it completely killed the story for me.

Ragnarok is near and the Vikings of Midgard have failed to uphold their duty to prevent it. With time running out, the All-Father Odin himself, searches all the worlds for one last warrior who might hold back the destruction threatening Nine Realms and every world created. Magnus’s death caught the All-Father’s one good eye. As an Army Ranger, he knew he was placing himself in the line of fire every day, and knew a day could come that cost him his life. What he didn't want was the rest of his team would be wiped out with him, the worst disaster the Rangers had experienced in decades.

when i first heard the stat sheet/system read off my eyes almost rolled out of my head, I thought "oh great another hacky litrpg. Turns out, it's hardly even there. the story is really good, got me locked in. If you get passed the narrators horrid accent for the character voices, it's really engaging and well written. Definitely worth the credit.

The author tends to get lost in the sauce and turns the book into a music/magic text book every other chapter. Why are you getting so specific with a magic system that doesn't really exist??? half the book is just explaining the magic system. keep it short and sweet. "i.e. you have a light saber? how does it work? magic crystal." you don't get into the physics of it.

Something always goes sideways, but this is bigger than expected. Maybe it's not an entirely bad thing, though, as mana-infected animals spreading over the world would definitely make everyone more open to the idea of the apocalypse. The question is what was Silas supposed to do about it, though. He still couldn't tell anyone who wasn't inducted about the system. It was time to get creative. If that wasn't enough, though, he still had the wild hunt hanging over his head. Seven days to go, and then he'd be thrown into whatever twisted event the system had cooked up for him.

Another author biting off more than they can chew. this goes from dungeon diver to fantasy to urban fantasy to midevil fantasy to straight up scifi with space ships and everything. That's not so bad but the author completely loses the plot, this book is more politicking than anything. Meetings with world leaders, trade deals and trade negotiations. Over explaining and repetitive dialog is a big problem too. The worst part is none of it has a hook, it just isn't interesting enough to keep your attention. I was looking forward to this book but it just is not for me, won't be continuing.

Historia
Ard is hunkering down in the mountains for the winter as the war cools with the snow. That means it’s time to practice his magic and stay out of trouble. Well… Ard might not be entirely proficient at the last one. At the very least, he’s staying away from the city and his penchant for annoying other people. Except that doesn’t work out so well when he’s forced to attend a ball held by the Brighthavens, though they’ll certainly regret forcing Ard’s attendance.

Historia
So it turns out overthrowing a 14,000-year-old cultivation empire is going to take longer than I expected, but I've made a great start. I've broken through to the Core Realm of my hidden Berserker art, established a new Terran Sect, and even discovered a tribe of lost Terrans out in the wild. There's a whole lot more at stake and even more people to save, but that's all the more reason to free the Earth from the empire's control. Not everyone is thrilled about my progression, however.

Revisado: 06-27-24
I normally can't stand this narrators work, However the story was so good that I can get passed it. Had to speed up to 1.3x speed to make it bearable but the story has got me hooked. The narrator has come a long way though from his early work and isn't screaming at you the whole time, only about half of the time now, so he gets a 3 star instead of the 2 star I normally give him. This was a great 2nd installment and had me on the edge of my seat for alot of the book. Very well written and compelling, alot of the genre gets so caught up in the "science" and every little detail to make the cultivation system or magic system make sense that they forget they're supposed to keep readers interested in the characters. this book does a great job of not dwelling on over explaining every aspect of every character and just tells a good story.

It's mostly about food, proper pc etiquette and trauma with a dusting of a story. Waste of a credit imo. Thought I'd give Schinhofen another shot because the description looked good, but it's been so long I forgot how dude writes books. If you're looking for a compelling story that gets you sucked into the world the author creates, this isn't it.

Revisado: 06-12-24
This is the first good book I've read in months. Seriously impressed, the story starts slow but quickly turns into a rocket to the moon. I started it months ago and thought it was going to be another boring drag like Way of Kings was, so I put it down. but I ran out of things to listen to and all my favorite authors have been putting out crap lately so I gave this another shot. WOW am I glad I did. I'm buying the rest of the series on the next pay check for sure 10/10
