Interesting plot, terrible reader
Revisado: 04-02-25
Plot had interesting twists. But fairly easy to figure out.
Book would have been an enjoyable read. The overly dramatic style of the reader was a distraction not an asset to the story. Made the entire book seem childish and shallow.

Historia
Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She’s seen it all: men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can't shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot. Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He's charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet. Then the brutal murder of a young woman—the latest in a string of deaths across the coast—confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them.

Could have been a wonderful book
Revisado: 01-31-25
I liked the story line. The role of the man was sweet and kind. The portrayal of the woman, the main character, was trite and stereotypical. Girls growing up in the 1960’s, while in the shadow of their Mother’s generational morals and aspirations, broke out of that mold. To portray a woman filled with vocational aspirations as indecisive, guilt ridden and pathetic is a disservice to all of us who grew up in the 1960’s. It is not a true picture of the women coming of age in those turbulent times. I usually don’t think about the gender of an author but after finishing this book I had to look in order to validate my suspicion that Boo Walker is a man. His version of women is far from the truth.

Historia
The Irish-American story, with all its twists and triumphs, is told through the improbable life of one man. A dashing young orator during the Great Famine of the 1840s, in which a million of his Irish countrymen died, Thomas Francis Meagher led a failed uprising against British rule, for which he was banished to a Tasmanian prison colony. He escaped and six months later was heralded in the streets of New York - the revolutionary hero, back from the dead, at the dawn of the great Irish immigration to America.

Not the Nora Roberts I remember
Revisado: 03-14-24
Never remember reading a ‘steamy’ Nora Robert’s book. It was one long sexy scene after another. I skipped parts thinking the story would evolve into something worthwhile. It didn’t.
Story was shallow, unbelievable and trite. Reader was bad, read too fast with inconsistent voices. Added nothing to redeem the book. Wasted a credit on this one.

Strange story hard to follow
Revisado: 01-28-24
Started off okay but quickly devolved onto some crazy tangent. I kept thinking I must have missed a chapter or two. I went back te listened to several chapters and could not catch the thread of the story again. Lots of dream
sequences or imagination sequences. Not worth my time to listen.

Good perspective on a serious subject
Revisado: 01-19-24
Liked the subject matter and the way abusers and abused were portrayed. Good insights. Hopfully someone listening will be helped by the information presented.
Did NOT like the narrator. The screechy little girl voices detracted from the seriousness of the subject matter

Music distracting story unbelievable
Revisado: 07-18-23
While the story was interesting and but not quite believable, I found the voice on the musical tracks scratchy and unpleasant. Perhaps that was intentional in order to further the reader’s conflicted feelings the story evoked.
Had I known the same sex marriage/parenthood agenda would be pitted against an evangelical Christian viewpoint I would not have purchased the book. In my thinking, same sex marriage/ parenthood is no less valid than evangelical
Christian beliefs.

Less than average all around.
Revisado: 05-28-21
Neither a mystery nor exciting story line. I kept guessing the next move long before it was presented. I kept waiting for a twist, there was none.
As if the story and characters were not boring enough, reader delivered this book in a perfect monotone with absolutely no vocal affect.
I was completing a repetitive task and used the book as background noise. Also set the sleep timer one night when I couldn’t fall asleep, I didn’t hear it fade away after 15 min. I was already sleeping.
