I may try again at another point in my life. Couldn't get past the first part. Sounds like mind rambles with no direction. Went from I realize I don't need to make people happy or like me to the next sentence of I need people to like me. Very dispiriting from the first sentence.

Historia
Apparently, there’s no rest for the over-forty crowd. Yes, I have fabulous friends. Yes, I have a beautiful baby. Yes, the ghosts are coming back home. Yes, I’m in love with the Grim Reaper. However, that sexy Demon has got some major ’splainin’ to do … like his possible involvement in the shocking kidnapping of my worst and most deadly enemy. With a drag queen and an ice queen as my back up, we’re going to sashay away into the Darkness to find the truth and turn a wrong into a right. Although, I’m learning fast that black and white are often clouded with shades of gray.

Repetitive
Revisado: 01-08-24
I got books 1 through 9 on sale. Upon listening you notice the author fills space by repeating terms and backstories. In the 1st book, we are reminded 2 to 4 times per chapter that the main character is 40. She seems to think and say it A LOT. The chapters are not that long and the word "Midlife" is in every book title so the reminders really weren't needed.
The story without the repeated parts isn't terrible. Could have been completed in 5 or 6 books to be honest. Almost every time a supportive character was mentioned or said something, we the listener were reminded of who they were and why they were. Example: 1 immortal cursed and got chastised by a ghost. follow-up sentences were about how the immortal adored the ghost or how the ghost tasked themselves to teach the immortal manners because that's the southern way.
Next chapter, the same immortal drops another F-bomb....again we get a history lesson after the same ghost says that's not proper behavior...we get it...we remember. Especially, due to being 4 or 5 books in.
I'm debating on if I need to finish this series or let it go. I listened to the 9 books because they were in my library. I still feel the way I did after listening to the first. Going to repeat myself here since that seems to be the norm...
The story without the repeated parts isn't terrible. There are some cute and laughable moments, some of the characters actually improve - to various degrees- over the course of the series and we are introduced to others along the way. While the reminders of the protagonist's age minimized slightly, unnecessary reminders of other things ramped up.

Historia
Thirty-nine was a fantastic year. I was married to the man I loved. I had a body that worked without creaking. My grandma, who raised me, was still healthy, and life was pretty damned good. But as they say, all good things come to an end. One year later, I’m a widow. My joints are starting to ache. Gram is in the nursing home, and dead people think my home is some kind of supernatural bed-and-breakfast. Gluing body parts onto semi-transparent people has become a side job - deceased people I’m not even sure are actually there.

She's 40!!!!!!
Revisado: 12-29-23
I'm on Chapter 15. Not too sure if I'll continue the series, but it's not bad enough yet that I can't finish this one. The narrator pauses in the middle of sentences in the beginning. Maybe she was turning a page? Her shrieking wasn't helpful either.
What is irritating is that the author felt the need for the main character to say she's 40 in every chapter so far. Sometimes it was doubled and trippled up on. I think the average reader is capable enough to remember the age of the main character without the constant reminder.

Great story of loss and the use of time travel. I'm just wondering why everyone has an accent except the main character who sounds American.

Historia
The world didn't end with a bang, it didn't go out in a ball of fire and fury, nor did it end in ice. But in some strange way, ice was the end - or maybe it was the beginning of something more. When Bethany finds herself suddenly alone in a world that was alive only moments before, she flees into the streets of her town in search of her family. Panicked by the immobile people surrounding her, she is almost captured by the monsters hunting her until Cade steps in.

Meh
Revisado: 09-05-21
45 minutes into the free audio book I found myself thinking I was glad it was free. Waaaaay too much focus on Cade and how much the main character is crushing on him. Not sure if I will be able to finish it if every 2 thoughts is about Cade's eyes or arms🙄.
When the focus was on the actual apocalyptic event, the potential of a great story was evident. Here's to hoping the main character's mindset improves.

Historia
Jane’s days at a Midwest insurance company are perfectly ordinary. She blends in well, unremarkably pretty in her floral-print dresses and extra efficient at her low-level job. She’s just the kind of woman middle manager Steven Hepsworth likes - meek, insecure, and willing to defer to a man. No one has any idea who Jane really is. Least of all Steven. But plain Jane is hiding something. And Steven’s bringing out the worst in her.

Well done predictability.
Revisado: 03-06-19
I was able to guess Jane's intentions and reasons within the first two chapters. Some parts were funny but overall, the story was very predictable. I was hoping for a plot twist that I didn't see coming.

Tufo Hasn't Failed Me Yet.
Revisado: 06-03-18
Some years ago I stumbled across a free version of Zombie Fallout. I was immediately hooked. The characters, story, comedy and surprises kept me coming back.
Now here we are at the 11th installment of the Zombie Fallout Series and I am still not disappointed. Mark Tufo has this great ability to make the reader go through (in my case) at least 4 emotions before midway into the books.
I've read each book twice and am now enjoying the audio versions. So worth it!
