Historia
As war moves ever closer, the sleepy English village of Crowmarsh Priors settles into a new sort of normal: Evacuees from London are billeted in local homes. The nightly German air raids become grimly mundane. Rationing curtails every comfort. Men leave to fight and die. And five women forge a bond of friendship that will change their lives forever in this engrossing novel of loyalty, loss, and love in the shadow of World War II.With the hardships of war intensifying every day, the women band together to defeat formidable enemies and find remarkable strength within themselves to help one another. It is a war-forged loyalty certain to endure years and distance. When four of the women return for a celebration fifty years later, their mission is not simply to commemorate or remember. They’ve returned to confront a traitor whose actions cost countless lives — and to avenge one of their own at last.

worst faked southern accents ever
Revisado: 12-11-19
y'all, I live in Atlanta, I was also a flight attendant for a major airline internationally. This was the absolute worst representation of a Georgian accent I think I have ever heard. We southerners get made fun of a lot and this was the most over the top, gone with the wind style faked accent. I only made it about 30 minutes into the "performance" before I had to write this off to the what the heck was I thinking pile. Which this performance was.. a stinking pile.

Mechanical and sterile
Revisado: 12-01-16
Book was ok, but the narration was droll, robotic and uninspired. I won't continue the series because of it.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

dont let the length of the book scare you off...
Revisado: 09-02-14
Where does The Goldfinch rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
one of the most entertaining, lovely books that i have listened to as of yet!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Theo- after you "read" (hear) this book- you will know why....
Which scene was your favorite?
the seemingly disconnected history that Theo tells you of and brings you into that is his life.
If you could take any character from The Goldfinch out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Hobie- loved the way he looked at life for its honesty and humility
Any additional comments?
look past the almost 33 hrs... give this book a listen. WELL WORTH IT!

Revisado: 09-02-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
stolen plot lines from hunger games, as the underdog style fight for survival type odd romance plot line DRUG ON AND ON AND ON... didnt help that the girl who read this had an excruciatingly dry reading style with no emotion or voice during tantamount moments. dull dull DULL... did i mention DULL?!
What do you think your next listen will be?
nothing from this author... this was tedious and painful to sit through!
How did the narrator detract from the book?
dry as dust. she read this book as if she were reading the local phone book!
What character would you cut from Divergent?
all of them... this never should have been published
