I'm cautiously optimistic
Revisado: 10-29-24
I really like the premise, the character are good and there is potential here. I don't buy the reasons these people have for going where the characters end up going. Plus everyone is kind of stupid when it comes to being wizards. I get that is the point, but these are nerds who are very familiar with sci fi and fantasy and it isn't very believable that they are so inept at being wizards. But eh, people in general are morons so maybe that's not too far fetched. I just hope this doesn't end up like a lot of these series do where it seems the author needs to add crap to meet a word count quota, like a SAT essay question or whatever. I hate that. But so far so good.

I'm sorry but this was a big let down. Phones in. Seems like someone trying to fill the word count of an essay. Something I come across later on in most book series actually. Maybe they get paid more when we listen longer. Get that bag I guess. But man, this was a chore to finish.

Audible, why do you not tell met the next book in the series
Revisado: 02-08-24
It is impossible as far as I can tell to find the next book in a series. What the hell. That is insane to me. Of course I want the next book, why don't you just have it pop up when I'm done. I have to Google what the next book is. That is moronic.

Great stuff
Revisado: 11-14-23
I enjoyed this as much as the rest, but why doesn't audible tell me the order of these books. it is moronic that the next book in the series isn't shown. i have had multiple spoilers revealed to me because I started the wrong book. I had no idea the triad existed until I was halfway through the Accidental War and searched Goodreads to find out why they were referencing things I had never heard. It is ridiculous I have to go elsewhere online to find the next book in the series. it's moronic and detrimental to the author. I may not have even known there were more books after the first 3 at all. This is a huge oversight. There should be a link guiding the listener to the next installment when the book ends. How is there not? If there is I haven't seen it. So if there is it's being done wrong. Also the books after this one sound like AI is speaking. Just saying. I miss Stephan Rudnicki, I think his name is. Maybe he retired or something, but the new guy sucks.

Nobleman, dashing officer, and paragon of selfishness, Captain Jezal dan Luthar has nothing more dangerous in mind than fleecing his friends at cards and dreaming of glory in the fencing circle. I love it when I find a new writer that doesn't suck. The story and characters are very compelling. I've stumbled upon some well reviewed crap out there, so this is very nice to discover. Plus the performance, I mean this guy is fantastic.

One of the all time worst endings
Revisado: 03-13-23
I am speechless. This is just such a let down. This could have been one book. Maybe. But the author had to stretch it out to make some cash. I get it. I just wish I hadn't wasted so much time on this. I mean it is hard to listen too most of the time. I can tell he's just trying to fill pages. Like he's filling a word count for a high school essay question. Repeating things over and over. Garbage. I'm sorry. Don't mean to be rude, but it's obvious. I consider that soulless behavior. I know you gotta get paid. But it ruined it. Made this a chore to finish, Although nothing could save the ending. Don't get me started on the twists. The main character constantly says how he couldn't believe this was happening, and he's absolutely right. Nothing in the story is believable. The bridge and the dream walking and all that is believable, but the characters and dialog and how this person is actually that person and all the twists. All that, you know important stuff, is completely unbelievable. It is all ridiculous. You will throw your headphones off and scream obscenities at them on multiple occasions.

If you're like me and made it this far because you just gotta know how all this turns out, don't worry about it. It's terrible. Stop. Turn around. Leave it. The world is full of morons, and that is why this book has such a high rating. I can tell Ray Porter knows. He's all over the place. Mixing up voices. He don't care. This is trash.

Yikes
Revisado: 03-13-23
I wish I could track down that redditor that suggested this. This is some piss poor writing. Even Ray Porter phoned it in. I can't believe the reviews. This is just horrible. Plot holes, inconsistencies, pointless macguffins, and just wildly unimaginative solutions to problems. Like the star trek bs solutions. Is there an expression for that? There should be. It's a shame, it was a interesting concept.

So, the Pirates are racing around the galaxy to clean up the threat to Earth. The infant UN Navy has their own mission with the Alien Legion: Get humanity some allies in the fight. Revisado: 02-11-23
I still want to know where this is going, but this one feels phoned in. I'm continuing hoping there is a purpose to a lot of this. I mean a legit payoff. I honestly don't think there will be. Also there are a lot of plot holes. A lot of Skippy did it, don't question. Like the relativistic dart at the battle with the other human fleet. That was a reach. But eh, I'm still entertained I guess.
