Historia
On January 14, 2018, a 17-year-old girl climbed out of the window of her Perris, California home and dialed 911 with shaking fingers. Struggling to stay calm, she told the operator that she and her 12 siblings - ranging in age from two to 29 - were being abused by their parents. When the dispatcher asked for her address, the girl hesitated. "I've never been out," she stammered.

Repetitive
Revisado: 09-25-24
I have a hard time with this author. I find him to be very repetitive and surface level. If you followed the story in the news there is not much more to learn here. If not than it’s probably all new and worth a listen, He tells the overall story and then will repeat things in the last chapters over again. if you don’t mind a narrator that is monotone and may put you to sleep if you listen for too long in one sitting

Historia
Mirabelle’s past is shrouded in secrecy, from her parents’ tragic deaths to her guardians’ half-truths about why she can’t return to her birthplace, Beau Rivage. Desperate to see the town, Mira runs away a week before her sixteenth birthday - and discovers a world she never could have imagined. In Beau Rivage, nothing is what it seems - the strangely pale girl with a morbid interest in apples, the obnoxious playboy who’s a beast to everyone he meets, and the chivalrous guy who has a thing for damsels in distress.

Narrator was great, story fell flat
Revisado: 08-06-12
Would you try another book from Sarah Cross and/or Kim Mai Guest?
Maybe from Sarah Cross and definitely from Kim Mai, she did great
What was most disappointing about Sarah Cross’s story?
The story really fell flat for me, it would have made a better novella. There was a lot of filler and really predictable, good for more of 13-15 aged girls.
Which character – as performed by Kim Mai Guest – was your favorite?
she did great narration overall, I didn't have a favorite character
Was Kill Me Softly worth the listening time?
Not in my opinion, but I do think younger girls would enjoy this
Any additional comments?
I just think I would have enjoyed the story more if it were more compact into a 100-150pg novella instead of all the extra filler and characters

Better with every book
Revisado: 07-30-12
If you could sum up Before I Wake in three words, what would they be?
addicting, heartbreaking, entertaining
Who was your favorite character and why?
Tod, amazingly supportive and devoted to Kaylee.
What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
emotion, gives great visuals to characters reactions to each other through vocals, timing
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
yes, but it was the climax and I'm not going to spoil anybody. Very heartbreaking what Kaylee has to go through in this book
Any additional comments?
this book gets better with each addition to the series. I highly recommend it, one of my favorites of all time
