Bonson Pinchot may be the best narrator ever. The story, although well told, is simply a tip of the hat to every conspiracy theory ever to escape a delusional mind. The protagonist is the typical antisocial won't let anyone get close to me because its too dangerous jerk who you are supposed to love because of his crushing loneliness. The other characters are superficial at best and the penultimate battle with the boogeymen completely lacks any sort of tension.

Worth listening to for the quality of Bronson Pinchot's performance.

Where does The Girl from Venice rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Easily the top of the list. Cruz Smith is the master of creating a vibrant, living scene with sympathetic characters. Amazing story all the way around. similar to December 6 purely in period, but creates a uniquely Italian tone rather than the distinct Japanese tone of the other book.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Enough tension from start to finish to keep you riveted. Enough twists from left field to avoid predictability. Takes a time period with natural tension and creates a slice of life.

What does Zach Appelman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Every character can be easily distinguished by his portrayal. Nailed the subtle differences between the brothers.

Any additional comments?

Perhaps the finest author of this genre practicing today. Too bad they don't have his best effort - Rose - available on Audible.

Would you consider the audio edition of Tricked to be better than the print version?

no

What was most disappointing about Kevin Hearne’s story?

This book should be named Hammered, not book two. Mr Hearne gets out the Eco Hammer and nails you right between the eyes with it repeatedly. From advocating 'Eco-terrorism' as "the right thing to do" to flippantly justifying the killing of oil company executives, to repeatedly hammering away on the Eco flavor of the month it gets annoying.

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The narrator is good, makes each character distinct and recognizable maintains the proper tone for the story scenario and builds tension when needed

Any additional comments?

the eco agenda is all fine and well in moderation but advocating violence towards others and calling it 'the right thing' goes too far.

One of the best I've heard

It is very easy for a historical account to be rather dry. This book brings this troubled time to life with a vibrant, enegetic narrative.

I've been here for 3 years and this is easily one of the best books of any genre I've heard.
