Book 2 of the series. Although there are references to book 1, you could read them out of order.

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

Very clever
Revisado: 05-30-20
Very clever send up of the fantasy gamelit genre - but don't let that scare you. It totally manages cute and funny in addition to the in jokes. Enjoyable, hope there are more to come!

Tell Me No Lies

Note this is an abridged title - but they did an excellent job in my opinion. So many abridgments read like someone attacked the story armed with scissors and scotch tape...
This is a great romantic suspense read with a heartwarming ending, lots of sizzle between the protagonists and some fascinating information shared about Chinese art, the very Chinese concept of 'face', and how international politics game is played by the big boys. It is a mid-90s release and a book I re-read fairly regularly.
The narrator is excellent.

Historia
Working as the only human barista at a coffee shop catering to the magical is a tough gig on a good day. Bailey Gardener has few options. She can either keep spiking drinks with pixie dust to keep the locals happy or spend the rest of her life cleaning up the world’s nastiest magical substances. Unfortunately for her, Faery Fortunes is located in the heart of Manhattan Island, not far from where Police Chief Samuel Quinn works. If she’d been smart, she never would have agreed to help the man find his wife. Bailey found her, all right - in the absolutely worst way possible.

Great story, outstanding narration! Highly recommended. This is part of a series of books which share a world but don't overlap much but a direct sequel to this book is soon to be released.
